chapter 12 - "I sure hope it'll last."

-time skip, Sanshi's POV-

I had arrived home with kari, and had started cooking dinner, kari sat in the sitting room, watching cartoons on the tv.

"Kari, dinner's ready hun." I state, pulling her highchair out of the corner by the fridge, unfolding it all out and picking her up as she prances into the kitchen, she giggles as i pick her up and hug her, walking over and sitting her in the highchair, her binky falling onto the tray attached to the chair. Sitting her plate on the tray, it contained baby carrots, her favorite thing as of right now, some mashed potatoes, and some chicken that i had torn into shreds. My plate was similar, with some steamed carrots, mashed potatoes, and a large piece of chicken.

We had begun eating when my phone rang.

Grabbing a napkin and wiping my hands, i reach for my phone in my pocket, grabbing it, i see it's Taishiro.

'What does he want?'

I answer and put it on speaker

'Heya darlin!' He states cheerily

"Sup." I say, my mouth still full

'Ah, you eatin?' He asks

"Mhm." I answer again, before kari pops in with a little 'Hiiii!' Before going back to her own food.

'Oh! Who's that ya got with ya darlin?' Tai asks

"Kid." I answer, him having asked the second i put a piece of torn off chicken in my mouth

'Babysitting duty?' He asks smugly

"You could say that." I state, having put my utensils down.

'Nice! Sometimes i have to babysit too. Haru's a pain.' He replies, i swear i could hear the eyeroll over the phone.

"Mhm. I'm pretty good with kid-  Kari no. The potatoes are not something to splatter everywhere." I answer, being cut off due to Kari splattering her potatoes, i had gently taken her wrist and taken the spoon she had

'Sounds like ya got your hands full there darlin.' Tai states with laughter

I sigh. "Yeah, she means well though, kids are just curious little shits." I state, picking the highchair up and sitting it closer to me, not moving from my chair in the process.

'Well, i was gunna ask if ya wanted to come over and play some video games, but i think you're pretty occupied with the kid.' He states, nervously laughing after

"Eh, i wouldn't mind visitin. Kari's a good kid when it's not just me and her." I answer, having stood to grab a few paper towels to clean off the potato covered 2 year old.

'Ah, ma probably wouldn't mind!' He states cheerily

"I'll be by after we finish eating then." I state

'See ya then darlin!' He replies, hanging up the phone

-time skip-

Kari and i had finished eating, and kari was just babblin away in her highchair as i continued doing the dishes in the sink, ones left from the last few nights, and tonights dishware.

Once i had finished the dishes i picked kari up out of the chair and brought her to the bedroom, sitting her on the bed

"Any specific color you wanna wear kiddo?" I ask, bending down in front of the closet, as her clothes were in the drawers on the bottom of it.

"Gween!" She shouts, giggling

"Green it is." I state, pulling out a forest green sweater and some olive pants. Turning and smiling at her as i walk over and get her changed into her new clothes. The sweater has an adorable little lime green triceratops on the front, it was one of her favorite shirts to wear.
