ATTACK ON THE GROUNDS

It's been two months since the start of term and Juliette wasn't making a whole lot of progress about the mystery that is Nico di Angelo. All she knew was he was an outcast in his house, sulks alone and would refrain from talking to anyone unless to retort back to an insult or anything the Potions Master, Blaise Zabini, said. The two had a mutual hatred that led to him always getting detention and the decreasing of the Slytherin house points.

That wasn't much help. The best thing she got was the fact that all of the ghost would steer clear from him whenever he was in the vicinity unless they had no choice. They avoided him like plague. Even Peeves looked like a wounded puppy every time Nico would catch him pranking innocent bystanders and he'd tell the ghost to go away. There was one time though, when Nico allowed Peeves to continue throwing his water balloons at Magnus Marle and his goons when he walked into them in a deserted corridor one time. The demigod just passed by and muttered, "Carry on." before disappearing around the corner.

It was the only thing that got the poltergeist on the boy's good graces.

The only good thing she had was a hunch about his godly parent. It would explain his powerful dark aura, that's for sure, but it possibly wouldn't help her to be any nearer to figure out why he was in United Kingdom of all places.

Shaking her head, the fifth-year Gryffindor just shook the thoughts from her mind. They had a five-inch essay homework for Charms and she needed to finish it. Sighing, she laid her Charms textbook on one side and started to write.

Their morning classes were cancelled due to some confidential reasons. Rose was sulking around beside Juliette as they sat beneath the shade of the tree near the lake on the school grounds where most of them were hanging out as Albus zoomed around on his broomstick with his brother, James Potter and Fred Weasley on his tail. A crowd was gathering, watching the three play tag in the air. Almost everyone was at the school grounds, preferring to cherish the outdoors than stay inside their stuffy common rooms.

"Hmph!" Rose said as she finally sat down on the grass after pacing for a good ten minutes. "The Ministry's at their whole 'good of humanity' thing again. Department of Magical Creatures... They're barely even doing anything about the attacks!"

Juliette didn't even glance up as she said, "What are you talking about?" absentmindedly.

"The monster attacks." Rose explained, oblivious to the fact that her friend was barely listening at all. "There's been nine sightings last night: four in the Muggle territories and five in the wizarding ones. It took the people needed to restrain them a whole half hour to get there! and there were four at once in the Muggle territories too! Two in London, one in the outskirts of Oxford and one in the north of Bristol."

The girl suddenly glanced up at the mention of Bristol and snatched the Daily Prophet from Rose's hands, She would have taken the Quibbler any day. It might have had some stuff that no one would ever understand but Lune Scamander, the writer and publisher, had a knack of getting actual good stories too and not watering-down the story and giving them the hard, painful truth of the facts. But she had no time to be picky now.

She quickly scanned the article and visibly paled. Tose was right, the people who were supposed to be restraining the creatures were barely doing anything at all, but that wasn't what caught her eye. What did catch her eye was the fact that the attacks were worse than anything she heard. The descriptions were obviously pointing to the Greek version of the monsters and not the wizarding ones: Nemean Lions, giant scorpions, some rogue centaurs, dracanaes and a drakon...and the drakon was the one who hit Bristol. That was where she and Alabaster lived.

"Oh gods..." She muttered. "This is bad. This is really, really bad... Alabaster..."

"Alabaster? You're brother?" Rose asked. "What about him?"
