Once we were hovering over New York our destination seemed obvious. Loki wanted to be seen, he wanted everyone to know exactly who was responsible for the pain and strife that was yet to come. We were headed to the tallest building in the city. Stark Tower, also known as my surrogate father's pride and joy. We stepped out of the aircraft and I watched it as it flew off to where ever not-Loki was sending it to.

"So what do you want me to do?" I asked trying to be as compliant as possible to keep the thing inside Loki's body trusting me as we went through our separate plans. He looked down at me "Stay by me" the look on his face made me feel uncomfortable. If it had been the real Loki saying those words I would have done so without the dropping feeling in my stomach, under different circumstances obviously, but this Loki made me want to run and hide with my tail between my legs. It was odd to see pale blue eyes boring into mine instead of Loki's real deep emerald orbs, they made me realise that this situation was much worse than I originally thought. "Are you enjoying your taste of power Melody?" He suddenly asked without looking at me. "How could I not?" I replied internally confused as to why he was talking to me now. "You're blocking me out." He stated, turning to face me. Terror ran through me. He knows. He's going to kill me. "Why shouldn't I?" I countered "you know where I stand, I would have killed you by now if I weren't"
"No necessarily, If you were standing by me completely you would have nothing to hide."
"I've only just found out what I am, I may be on your side but I don't trust you with my thoughts." I shot at his harshly, he grinned and nodded, looking oddly proud of my answer.
I wasn't the only one blocking thoughts, I couldn't feel anything from him, after the real Loki let me into his mind I was able to feel his emotions and hear some of his louder thoughts. But now the room was silent. The only sound was our breathing and the occasional thud from Selvig working on the roof to set up the Tesseract. I felt odd, I knew I didn't belong here.

Loki walked over to the edge of the of the building and looked across the buildings of New York. I was terrified to say the least, I'd never done anything like this before, I wasn't Tony, I was his adopted daughter... not even a human one. I began to worry that maybe I was going to crack, that maybe I couldn't do this and not-Loki wouldn't realise and kill me. He's already questioning me.
I shook the thought away as best as I could. Now is not the time to break. I told myself, I watched Loki carefully as he stood proudly, no doubt basking in his assumed victory. He turned and smirked at me, then walked into the building. I followed closely behind. "What do we do now?" I asked his smirk grew and his back straightened "We watch the world become mine." Just as he'd finished his sentence the sound of Tony's suit cut through the silence. We watched as the suit clanked on the hard floor, Tony smoothly walked into the room and Jarvis removed his suit. It was covered in dents and scratches, the paint was chipping off in places and it sent a shiver of fear down my spine. What the hell happened?
"Please tell me you're here to appeal to my humanity." Loki said as Tony walked behind the bar. "No, I'm here to threaten you." He gave me a quick glance but I was stoic. I had to be to stay alive. "You should have left the armor on for that"
"Well, it's seen a but of mileage and you've got the glow stick of destiny." Tony was calm, and I gave him props for that but I was scared for him, if he got hurt because of my stupid plan, I would be broken. Loki looked at his sceptor proudly and grinned widely. "You want a drink?" Tony asked, and Loki continued to grin maniacally "Stalling me won't change anything"
"No, threatening , you sure? I'm gonna have one" Tony said referring to the drink. Loki seemed to grow aggravated and he walked to the wide windows "The Chitauri are coming, nothing will change that, what have I to fear?"
"The Avengers" Tony replied almost immediately without looking away from the glass of bourbon he was pouring. My eyes widened at the words, I'd hadn't heard anything about the Avengers since Phil was here forcing me into S.H.I.E.L.D. Loki looked at him in confusion and Tony rolled his eyes "That's what we call ourselves, like a team, earth's mightiest heroes"
Loki smirked once again "Yes I've met them"
"Yeah, takes us a while to get any traction I'll give you that one, but let's do a roll call here, your brother, the demigod," Loki let out a humorless breathy laugh and turned to the window, "a super soldier, a living legend, who kind of lives up to the legend-" I noticed him moving a but too much behind the bar to be just making a drink and internally smiled when I realized he had an actual plan "a man with breath taking anger management issues," Loki smiled, seemingly proud "a couple of master assassin's, and you, have managed to piss off every single one of them, including me." Loki's eery smile grew and he faced Tony fully "That was the plan, although if you could elaborate on you, that would be helpful."
"Well, you did kidnap my daughter" Tony said nonchalantly. I stayed still, my hands behind my back and my face showing nothing. "Kidnap? I did no such thing, she came with me quite willingly"
"Bullshit"
"Has she not told you? She knows everything, she's quite similar to me, in fact, the same species" Loki held out his hand without looking at me and I knew he meant for me to take it in mine, so I did even though his choice of words made me shiver.
The moment our cold hands met we began to turn blue, our eyes red, and Tony's face shocked. "You see, she's finally realized she's made for more than just pretending to be who she's not, she's on my side now" he dropped my hand and Tony collected himself as best he could, "That aside, there's a hole in your plan, you see, when we come, and we will come, we'll come for you."
"I have an army"
"We have a hulk" Tony remarked.
Loki laughed, "Oh? I thought the beast had wandered off?"
Tony shook his head "You're missing the point, there's no throne, there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us but it's all on you, because if we can't protect the earth you can be damn well sure we'll avenge it."
Loki's features grew dark and he walked towards Tony "How will your friends have time for me, when their too busy fighting you?" The sceptor glowed brightly as he brought it to Tony's chest. It took everything in me not to scream out for him to stop.
But instead of Tony becoming brainwashed a loud clank resonated through the room as it hit his reactor. Tony relaxed a bit and Loki stared confused "This usually works" he mumbled a bit to himself and tried once more. "Well performance issues, happens more than you'd think. You know one out of five-" he was cut off by Loki grabbing his throat and throwing him across the room, I stepped forward and gasped as Tony tried to get up "Jarvis anytime now" he said just as Loki got to him and pulled him up choking him. "You will all fall before me" he growled at Tony just before throwing him out the window, I shielded my eyes as glass shattered everywhere, the sound of whirring echoed behind us when the suit I recognized as Mark 7 followed after Tony falling out the window, forcing Loki to the floor as it flew past.
I quickly walked to him and tried to help him up, ending up being pushed away as Loki walked to the edge and watched the suit engulf Tony and fly in front of him. "And there's one other person you pissed off. His name was Phil." Loki raised the staff at Tony but he was too quick, a bolt of light from Tony's hand shot Loki in the chest causing him to fall once again to the ground and groan in pain. Tony and I looked at each other for a few seconds before I rushed to Loki's side, this time he let me help him up as he clutched his shoulder. I heard Tony fly off quickly, and I wished I could have let him in.
