Chapter 131: Rest in Peace

The screen shows a manga panel in black and white, scrolling down in a slow motion for the others to understand it. What lacks in the voice department is made up with the addition of soft background music, making it an oddly comfortable experience. There was also a narration box that reads 'Year 2018', alongside some text in Japanese that the creator won't bother translating here.

Immediately, Chifuyu internally deduced that they are reacting to a manga chapter, though he was wondering the reason for reacting to it in the first place. He doesn't want to say this yet, but is that all there is to it?

He isn't the only one who thought about that, as the entire room were filled with questions in their mind. While most were wondering about the footage, both Takemichi and Naoto perked up at the realization upon seeing the year. As much as they want to brush it up as a coincidence, the possibility of them getting exposed isn't out of the ordinary. And they were praying that it won't be the case.

Meanwhile, Mason could chuckle at the response as he scrolled the enlarged image further. Allon's idea was a good way to explained more about Tenjiku, while making sure that any unnecessary information could get out of hand. 

'I wonder how's Allon doing?' he wondered before checking on the background music. Adjusting it to not make it overbearing, he then continued his task at hand.

'I explained all of the new events that I learned in the past to Naoto.' thought Takemichi, with his words appearing in a narration box. Besides it was a manga panel showing him and Naoto sitting in the latter's office.

"I see..." noted Naoto, taking in all of the information his buddy spilled. "So if Kisaki truly is a timeleaper, we have to kill him." he stated, looking more serious in the next panel.

When asked by Takemichi, Naoto explained that there would be no point of keeping him alive if he ends up messing the past, much to Takemichi's shock. Unexpectedly, Naoto said that he was joking, leading to Takemichi asking his friend to read the room.

Looking at the guy sitting beside her, Senju saw the similarities between him and the one on the screen.

"Are you... Naoto?" she asked, after the screen was paused.

He sighed. Naoto knew that the jinx was up, it would only be a matter of time before they find out his identity. So he stood from his seat and sighed, before responding to his question.

"Yes, I am Naoto."

His response shocked most of the group. Most of them had never met the police officer before, let alone aware of the existence of Naoto. Senju already knew that her friend Hina has a brother, but wasn't expecting to meet the future-self of her friend's brother.

'When did Hina's brother get a glow up?' she wondered in confusion, finding it hard that the little boy Hina talked about was this handsome officer in the future. The only possibility that could explain the whiplash of a glow up was that puberty hit the boy hard like a truck. And honestly, she should've seen it coming with that conclusion.

Meanwhile, both Chifuyu and Takemichi were silently panicking. With Naoto's reveal to the others, it was inevitable that Takemichi's time-leaping abilities get exposed. An excuse won't convince everyone in this room, so the only option they have was to let the cat out of the bag.

The only problem? Explaining that secret, that's an issue.

"Okay, I'm just gonna explain it here since time is not on our side." spoke Mason through the speakers.
