"Wah~! That's so mean, Kunikida!"

Dazai was as lively as ever. Unfortunately for Kunikida, Dazai was bothering him specifically, today.

"Shut it you waste of bandages machine! I'm trying to get the report done from our last mission," Kunikida sighed, trying to refrain from punching Dazai straight in the face. "If you couldn't tell, Astushi had a pile of work to do yesterday, and look at him now! He has nothing on that desk of his that needs to be done."

"Well that's Astu, I am not Astushi-kun!" Dazai pouted. Getting compared to poor Astushi was not what he wanted to gain from this conversation. "What's so wrong with going somewhere? It is my break after all!"

Kunikida sighed, "Can I at least know where you wanna go?"

"Simple! I need to buy something before I forget again," Dazai leaned down smiling at the four eyed blondie.

"..." Kunikida stared, unamused. "No."

"Wha! I thought being honesty was the best policy! Astushi you liar!"

Astushi looked at the two from across the room, "Hey! Why are you bringing me into this?"

It was simply a fun and daily argument. But it felt weird when Dazai was thinking about a short red head. "I just wanna buy a present for someone! What's so wrong? Is it that I always forget about his birthday that it's weird?"

"A birthday present..?" Kunikida didn't actually expect that.

"Yes! A b~i~r~t~h~d~a~y present!" Dazai slowly sing songed the word 'birthday' in hopes Kunikida would allow him to go.

"I didn't think you had anyone outside the office that'd like you," Kunikida mumbled. Rude. Just at that moment, Yosano walked right in. She gave Kunikida a perfect opportunity to give away the whiney Dazai, "Dr. Yosano! Could you please supervise Dazai on his trip to get someone a present for me? I'm quite busy, so I can't go myself."

"Hm? Sure, why not," Yosano replied to him. It was written all over her face that she hadn't planned anything for the rest of the day, "you're asking because you don't want him running off to go find another way to die, right?"

"Yep... If only I didn't have to worry about that."

"Stop acting like I'm a toddler ready to put a fork in an outlet! Wait.. That's a good idea," Dazai mumbled the last part to himself which left the room sighing.

"Alright! Stop thinking of stupid ways to die little Dazai! Today, big sis Yosano is taking you to go shopping!" Yosano said so proudly it kinda made Dazai feel a bit.. disgusted? It made his stomach feel weird that's for sure.

"Bleh."

"Say that again and I'll rip your tounge out."

"So, who's the person you're getting a present for? I don't believe you have friends outside of work," Yosano asked as Dazai walked beside her. Around them were plenty of shops that they could've went into, even a book store that Dazai simply just glanced at.

"That's a secret. Oh! There it is!" Dazai went straight towards a (tacky) hat store. It had every kind of weird hat you imagine. Ranging from cat ear headbands to really expensive fancy hats imported from other countries.

Yosano looked around herself, trying to think of anyone she knows that wore hats, "I didn't know you had a friend who wears hats, Dazai." Why she worded it that way, Dazai couldn't tell because Dazai has never mentioned his life outside of work.

"He's not really a 'friend' but more so enemy I guess."

"What makes you say that?"

"He loves tacky hats, loves dogs (which I hate), has a big ego, is really short, yells at me from a distance away all the time for breathing, hasn't kept his word of killing me, has the worst fashion sense, and-" Dazai was cut off by laughter. Laughter that came from Yosano. "What? Did I say something funny, or are you laughing at the slug I just described?"

"Heh, well, sounds to me you two are close," Yosano smiled at Dazai.

"What. The. Hell." Was what Dazai first spat out, "there's nothing in this world that could make me like that slug! You are completely insane for thinking that, Yosano!" Dazai's face a bit red, which he put down that he gets red from anger, not embarrassment or from getting flustered.

Yosano realized she had never seen this side of him, all flustered and pouty. With out an inch of lies in those eyes. She smiled looking at the kid (who was three years younger! Not a minor, Yosano!).

Dazai sighed, slightly giving up on getting it through her head, but he carried on looking for the perfect tacky hat to give the slug he just described. He spotted a hat off in a corner hanging up. He remembered it all of a sudden. Last month, Dazai and the slug encountered each other. The shortie had been looking at the hat through the glass until Dazai had come and made him forget about it in attempt to get rid of Dazai. He took it and bought it with- Yosano's money since he left his wallet at home without realizing it. 12080.07¥ spent on a velvet hat that was navy blue with a brown band and calla lilies on it.

"You really had to choose such an expensive hat for this so called 'enemy'?" Yosano said disappointed at the denial Dazai was in.

"Yep! Gonna make him feel guilty that I bought him such a money taking hat!"

"You mean me who bought it?"

"Yep!" All Dazai did was smile, smile, smile. So, Yosano didn't argue any further, she was just happy to see him like this. "So, now all I need is,something to wrap the hat in and we should be good to go!"

"You plan on wearing that until we get back?" Dazai nodded, the hat laying on top his head. It kept almost falling off, but he simply kept readjusting it until it would stop falling. "If thats the case can we at least get something to eat real quick? I'm craving something sweet."

"Sure, why not. I'll make sure to pay you back my dear 'onee-san'," Dazai laughed out.

"Knew you'd warm up to that!" Yosano laughed along with him.

"Bleh."

"Didn't I say not to 'bleh' at me again?" Her eyes went sharp as she stuck her tounge out at Dazai.

"Heh."

"Come here, you big dumbo!"

It didn't take long before the pair walked up to a street food vendor. Dazai's eyes immediately saw that they sold a sweet he hadn't had in forever. Of course he had to have it again. It's been what? Thirteen? No, maybe fifteen years since he's last had them.

"Hello! What would you two like?"

"I'll take a dorayaki," Dazai answered the man.

"Same for me," Yosano added.

Once they got their dorayakis they started walking to another shop that sold present wrapping and boxes to put the present in. Just, one thing. Dazai immediately stopped the second he bit into his dorayaki, red beans oozing out.

"Something up?" Yosano turned to look at him. She saw a Dazai that wanted to cave in, again. That Dazai that she knew the best. It was unfortunate, she was getting used to the childlike and happy kid that was inside of him.

"N-no.. Just.. Memories, I guess?" Dazai looked up at her with those somber eyes she's never seen.

Yosano took a gulp. It reminded her of a boy she once met. A boy who was probably dead. "Oh, alright then. Hurry up, we still got to get back before your break ends!"

"Since when was there a timer?" Dazai pouted.

'Good', Yosano told herself, 'I like this Dazai a lot better.' She answered back, "Ever since Kunikida-san agreed to you going out! That's when!" Dazai groaned at that, but he carried on with this birthday present shopping.

It is SO obvious who he's shopping for isn't it lol? Well, two chapters I did in one day be proud of me  :)
