"Astushi~" Dazai slammed open the front door to the office bright and early. Astushi, the poor young man he called out to was sitting across the room, hiding. Oh dear. "Astushi-kun! Why must you hide from your dear mentor and lovely savior~?"

"It's because everytime you call out to me it's always to put all of your responsibilities on me! I don't want to work overtime and wake up tired and cranky on my birthday tommorrow!" Astushi yelled back at Dazai. He was still half under Ranpo's desk, leaving Ranpo slightly annoyed.

"You better not think being under my desk allows you my snacks, Astushi-kun.." Ranpo 'peacefully enlightened' Astushi.

"Huh? I thought today was your birthday?" Dazai stared at the weretiger with astonishment.

"Wait.. were you just trying to say Happy Birthday..?"

'Wow, look at you this time, getting your own co-worker's birthday wron-'

Astushi inturrupted that thought. "Well, that's really sweet of you Dazai-san!" He said as he finally got up from under Ranpo's desk.

"I- uh- yes! Happy early Birthday dear Astushi-kun!" Dazai told the younger with full confidence, 'as if you didn't just stumble on your words.'

"Well it's very much appreciated," Astushi gave a warm smile in return.

"Here! People get birthday presents on their birthday, so I wanted to make sure I was the first to give you one!" Dazai shoved a blue box into Astushi's hands.

"Hm? Whatever you say, Dazai-san," Astushi began unwrapping the white ribbon tied neatly around the box to unveil what was inside. What was in his hands actually shocked Astushi quite a bit. "Dazai-san.. how did you know I wanted this?"

"Simple! I overheard you mumbling about it to yourself while we were grabbing some stuff for Yosano-sensei about a week ago," Dazai gave his famous cheeky smile that the agency could recongize from a mile away. 'Chuuya wouldn't even call it a real smi-'

"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" What was in Astushi's hands was a cute little chameleon keychain.

"No problemo!"

"HEY THAT'S NOT FAIR!" A voice called from across the room. Yosano proceeded to shove a present into Astushi's hands aswell.

"Eh..?"

"If Dazai gets to deliver his present early, then why shouldn't I?" She proclaimed proudly. "Besides, birthday presents are the best, so enjoy it while it's your time to shine!"

"Thank you Yosano-san!" Astushi thanked as he unwrapped a video game he mentioned to Yosano he wished he had the money to buy just a month ago. "Seriously, thank you, both of you. It's just my first birthday actually being celebrated so I am very much grateful for everyone I have today!"

"No problem, Astushi-kun. It's was inevitable anyways! No way you were going to turn nineteen and not get celebrated!" Dazai pointed out to Astushi.

"Who are you to talk?" Kunikida chimed in,"You still haven't told us when your birthday is and you've been here for over two years now."

"Hm? Well I like it better when people have to guess, heheh~" The lie slipped out easily. Not shocking. Dazai lied all the time. Whether or not he wanted to.

Kunikida sighed, "Don't get too cocky yet. Even though the president nor Ranpo-san will tell us, there are still many ways to figure it out!"

"I'm betting that Dazai-san bought Ranpo-san's silence with snacks." Astushi quickly stated.

"Wow! Very observant Astushi-kun!" Ranpo did a little finger gun gesture at Astushi to show he got it right on the dot.

Kunikida jumped up,"I will get you double the amount of snacks that bandage waster got you then!"
