walking and talking with gordie (requested)

(Imagine: while on the way to find the body, you and gordie have a random talk after shopping for food)

(A/N: This imagine was requested by staygold4johnnycade. I hope you like it! This is as if Y/N went with the boys and then went with Gordie to get the food when they stop at the junkyard. Now, on with the imagine!)

       Gordie was silent after we left the general store. Just like he always was after someone talked about Denny. I could practically see him retreating into his mind and I wasn't about to let that happen.

       "I'm thinking of coloring my hair." I say, totally out of the blue. It was the first thing that came to mind. 

       "What?" Gordie said, a confused look on his face.

       "Yeah. I'm thinking of going from Y/H/C to something completely different." I reply with a nod. My arms are full of provisions so I can't exactly gesture to my hair but I do toss it around a bit by turning my head.

       "Don't change your hair color." Gordie says with a small smile.

       "Why?" I ask as we walk.

       "I like your hair the way it is. It suits you." Gordie says, a light blush dusting his cheeks.

       The same blush spreads over my own cheeks as we fall into a comfortable silence. I watch Gordie out of the corner of my eye as he shifts the weight in his arms to one side, leaving one hand free. I do the same. As we walk, our hands brush together once. Twice. By the third time, Gordie's hand grips mine. Both our blushes darken but we don't dare let go.

       "Hey, Y/N?" Gordie asks.

       "Yeah?" I ask back.

       "Do you think he'd be proud of me?" Gordie asks quietly.

       I immediately know who he means and a small smile comes to my lips. "Yeah, Gordie. He'd be real proud." I say.

       "HEY YOU KIDS! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"

       Oh no! 

       And just like that, Gordie and I start running for our lives, not daring to let go of the other's hand.
