"Okay, what's up world, this is Shiloh Vanderbilt with 77.5 on your favorite morning show, and today we have the beautiful members of Lost Mechanism! Guys, what do you say you introduce yourselves?"

Even on screen and at an age two years shy of now, DJ looked cheeky. The members all looked between each other, playfully bickering a centimeter or two in front of the mic. But in the end, Dinah adjusted the clunky headset on her head and sauntered forward.

"Hi, I'm Dinah Jane, the drummer of Lost Mechanism."

After her, came Isley, then Ivan, then Alex. They were all obviously younger versions of themselves, caught in the times of different trends. But Normani couldn't keep her eyes off of Dinah. Her standard blonde hair was brown with frosted tips in this video. She looked at the time stamp in the video. 2019.

Wow.

"So, it's really great to have all of you here on the show, especially being that you're a local talent here in Texas and going on your first tour ever! How does it feel?"

"It, uh, it feels amazing." Ivan began. "We're extremely grateful for all the support and we never imagined things even getting this far so, we're really excited to see what's next."

"Yeah, I'm still a bit in shock actually. We got an email from Blue Water Highway the other day telling us they liked our music, and I didn't even think they knew who we were." Isley chimed in with a large but humble smile.

"Oh, you guys are fans of Blue Water Highway? We've actually had them here before, a few months before Heartbreak City debuted and they were still formulating their original buzz."

"Are you kidding?"

"No way!"

"I think I saw that!"

Shiloh nodded with a laugh.

"Isley has been trying to get us to do a cover of Speaking Of The Devil for months." Alex nudged.

The black man rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Maybe one day."

"Who knows, maybe you and Blue Water Highway will be doing that cover together!"

All of the band members faces lit up like Christmas trees. But Shiloh didn't stop long enough to let them be fazed. She did her best to steer the conversation back towards the tour.

"So. Two EPs, and a midwestern tour. How the hell do you manage to pull that off in such a short tenure?"

Isley took to speaking this time.

"Lots of local support. Like we said earlier, it really took us by surprise the way Texas embraced us. When a lot of people think of this state, they see country music or your Nelly's, your Beyoncé's, your Barry White's, you know? So here comes four kids who want to bust into this underground scene with some basement rock sound, and I imagine people didn't know whether to laugh or to encourage us. But we kept trying. We played churches, talent shows, bars, you name it. Eventually, we started picking up on social media. Recommendations of a friend of a friend of a friend. Then we got our manager over there," He pointed off camera with a small smile. "Clifton, and he really put us on the map. And uh... Yeah, it's all been up from there."
