The next morning wasn't as exciting as the last nor as melancholic as the night. Truth be told, Normani felt nothing. When her eyes opened to the same blue ceiling, all she could do was sigh. She snuggled deeper into her pillow and tried to enjoy the minute silence.

After a few minutes, she gave in. There was no more sleep left in her. She reached for her phone and scrolled through all of her notifications. She'd slept until 12:30, which was a lot given the time her and Sinead got home. Thankfully, her best friend didn't push her on what happened or why she wanted to go. The brunette made a mental note to thank her for that.

For now, she clicked into her messages with Dinah. Her last message was at 8:49 this morning.

Can I call?

Normani started to hover over the FaceTime button before clicking back into the chat box instead.

Are you busy?

DJ's response was nearly immediate.

Give me one second.

Normani sat up to retie the scarf on her head while she waited. Her girlfriend called not long after.

Dinah Jane's camera was angled from the waist up, so that the only thing in view was her face, two strands of her blonde hair, the red hoodie on her head, and the denim jacket she wore over it. Her gaze was pensive and her voice low as she balanced the phone on her thigh.

"Hello?"

"Hey." Normani mumbled, her voice thick. "Where are you?"

"The studio." DJ mumbled back, looking away to scribble something. "Did you just wake up?"

"Yeah."

She smirked. "Rough night?"

"Shut up, DJ."

The blonde snorted.

"Do you want me to call you back? Were you recording?"

DJ shook her head. "It's fine. I told them to clear out so they're in the other room. How are you feeling?"

"I'm... I'm okay. I don't really know how I'm supposed to feel right now."

"Yeah, things sounded pretty bad last night." When the brunette didn't answer, Dinah pushed on. "Can we talk about it?"

Normani still didn't have the heart to answer. She nodded, sitting herself up and ushering her blanket around her body.

"Okay..." DJ picked up her phone. Now, she was fully visible amongst the sound booth panels. "Do you remember anything?"

"Yeah."

"What do you remember?"

The brunette picked at her hands with a deep sigh. "Everything."

"Okay. You, uh, you said that your mom called. What happened?" Her girlfriend said slowly. Normani's shoulders deflated like a balloon.

She rubbed at her forehead and lowered her chin. Even though her and Dinah weren't face to face, she still didn't have the heart to look at her. Looking at her meant that she'd have to see the pity. Or worse, the nonchalance. What if DJ thought it was stupid? She said it herself that she couldn't relate. Would it be tone deaf of her to complain about hearing from her mom when the other person had their own issues already?
