The year 1863... It was a lovely year for both Mary and George Joestar. That was the year that their first son was born. The son that would see their entire bloodline live and guide them throughout their life. That son's name was Y/n Joanne Joestar.

Five years later, Y/n's younger brother would be brought into the world and his mother would leave the family forever.

I was home, a nanny watching me as I played around with a small wooden horse. Being five was simple, it's supposed to be that way at least. The reason why I was home with the nanny was because my parents left for the hospital, they thought it was safer than giving birth at home. All I need to do now is wait until they get back home. At least it gives me time to think whether or not I'll get a brother or sister.

"When do you think they'll be back home?" I asked the nanny, setting the wooden horse on the floor.

"Probably in another hour or so. They said they'd be home around dusk today" She replied, pausing before continuing. "You should get ready for bed. I've already set out clothes for you. They're lying on your bed."

"Thank you, I'll get going now." I said, picking up the horse and placing it in a box for safe keeping. It was a gift from my mother, so I had to keep it in good condition.

After that, the nanny walked me to my room. On the way there I could see some of the workers of the manor fixing up the nursery for my sibling or siblings. Once I arrived at my room, I changed into a pair of grey pyjamas and did everything else to get ready for bed. I sit on my heavily furnished bed waiting for the nanny to arrive to tell me that my parents are back. That never came, as I fell asleep before I could see them arrive.

The sun rose the next day and I got up. Hearing many voices outside, I forget about getting changed and rush out of my room, ready to greet my parents and new sibling. I rush down a large pair of stairs to see my father heavily bandaged, my mother nowhere to be seen.

"Father, you're back! Where's mother? Is she already in the nursery with the baby?" I questioned, oblivious to the sickeningly thick atmosphere surrounding the room.

"Y/n, come sit here. I need to talk with you." George said with a solemn tone, patting the empty seat next to him. I took a seat next to him, curious as to what he'd have to say. "Y/n, you know those stories where the hero sacrifices themself to save someone?" He started, trying to explain what happened in a lighter way.

"I know those stories, mother used to read them to me." I stated, curious as to how this conversation would end up.

"On our way back from the hospital there was a terrible accident. The carriage fell from a cliff and your mother sacrificed herself to save your little brother. She protected him from the fall." He finished. He couldn't even look me in the eye after.

"So, mother is gone? She won't come back?" I asked, my voice wavering. Water started to bead around the corners of my eyes, I couldn't even hold back the tears from falling out. My father comforted me the best he could, but even he knew things would change around here.

"Y/n, could I ask something of you?" He asked in a calm voice. I nodded, waiting for him to continue. "Now that your mother is gone, I'd like for you to protect your younger brother. He needs a good role model, someone to guide him. Do you think you can do that for me?" He said, finishing his request.

"I can do that. I'll try my best." I said, giving an answer to his request. I wiped my tears away, giving a hug to my father. "Could I go see my brother?" I asked, trying to change the heavy subject. I know I couldn't avoid it, but it's hard for a five-year-old to understand.
