The deep voice behind us seems to have alarmed Clifford as he quickly move from me and we both look behind him, oh my word I cannot believe my eyes.
He looks at us both with questioning looks, he shifts his focus to Clifford, "weNdoda, kwenzekani la?" His jaw is clenched, I quickly wipe off my tears he notices this and gets even angrier and charges towards Clifford, "ngikhuluma nawe!" , "look man it's not..." Before Clifford could even finish his sentence, this guy already has him pinned against the fridge.
I charge towards them just to defuse the situation, I stand next to the both of them and before I could even plead with him to let cliff go, he looks at me then let's him go.
Clifford walks out without even saying a word. "Are you okay?" He asks with a very concerned look, "yes,(sniff) I'm fine" for some odd reason I cannot maintain eye contact, maybe it's because I'm embarrassed at what he found when he walked in, "thank you..." I blurt out, "for walking in when you did..." he lifts my chin to look up at him "did he hurt you?" I shake my head, he doesn't seem convinced.
"I'm really sorry that this had to happen here especially, we'll pay for any medical related costs if you need any counseling or medical attention, please contact Pam and everything will be handled" oh so he works here, nice. "No there's no need for that, I'm okay"
He sighs in defeat, "thank you for the amazing meals today, the guests couldn't stop complimenting the chef" I smile lightly, "thank you for the opportunity"
I focus my attention back to the dishes, and suddenly his next to me with a dish cloth and his shirt sleeves pulled up, "wenzani?" I ask, "well I'm done for the day, you could do with some extra hands and I'm merely just helping" I smile, he's right though these are too much "thank you".
We continue washing dishes in complete silence, once we are done he helps me back everything into the crates. "Thank you, I think my sisters and I will take it from here" I say, "I never really got to introduce myself now did I?" I try to think back and honestly if he did, then I completely forgot his name, "or you probably forgot, it's okay" I chuckle shyly.
"Mthokozisi Cele..." huh? So he's related to whoever who owns this place?, "yes, I'm the founder and CEO of Cele constructions..." Okay even worse, before I could even respond, Nelly, Za and Thato walk in "bab'Dlamuka is here, let's go sisi" they pick up the crates then leave as if they didn't notice the stranger in the room.
He is still looking at me waiting for me to introduce myself I guess, "Zekhethelo Bhengu..." he is quiet for a moment and has this smile that I cannot even read, "maNgcolosi..." I smile, so he even knows my clan names, zulu men never disappoint on that department hey, and they're also smooth talkers so for all I know he's just trying to get into my pants and that's about it.
When this thought crosses my mind I decide to say my goodbyes. "Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I have to go now, bye" I grab the last crate and walk out, "wait..." I just keep walking, remember, the goal is to make a better life for those two rascles at home and not to bring yet another stranger into my life who, like any other man, he is after just one thing.
After a long drive back to soweto, we finally arrive, the drive wasn't that long but I honestly just miss my babies right now and I'm crossing fingers that they aren't asleep yet. I get home and after we offload everything, Nelly,Za and Thato whom I assume is a part of us now, decide to go out for the night, I just want to be tucked in bed with my babies, it's been a long day.
I find that they're all fast asleep, so I take a quick shower then make myself a toasted sandwich with a cup of rooibos tea, my bed is so cold because the two rascles are sleeping with mum tonight.
After my sandwich I doze off almost immediately.*Sunday morning*
I woke up early and prepared a nice full breakfast for everyone, I know my mother will probably try to recruit us to come to church with her again"Hawu, you're up early..." my mum exclaims as she walks into the kitchen, I smile "sawubona ma, have a seat" she likes being pampered ke uma, I prepare her cut of tea just the way she likes it while I put the final touches to the breakfast.
As I'm removing the sausages from the stove, the rascles walk in hand-in-hand, "morning mommy, morning gogo" oh man, these 2 little humans honestly melt my heart, after placing them on their chairs we all indulge in a filling breakfast.
The rest of the day was spent with my babies, I finally took them out for clothing shopping and a young lunch date, they had fun, we even took a few snaps and honestly I'm very content with my new life, it isn't ideal but as long as I'm in a better state emotionally.
I've tried to block out the encounter I had with Clifford and avoid thinking about what could've happened if the funeral guy didn't walk in, he genuinely saved my life and all I did was walk out on him, I feel bad...
