a few months ago...

"the south is in charge of keeping the public order in the JEA, but in case of a hostage situation in a facility such as the mint, the two countries will form a joint task force, just like us. then, each country will send its experts onto the field to try and catch you all in the act." the professor explained and paris could feel herself about to yawn but held it back in out of manners, making her look like a chipmunk. rio turns to her and raises his eyebrows questioningly while berlin and the professor were talking, she only puts her hands together and lean her head to the right slightly with her hands underneath, signalling she was sleepy. rio nodded in understanding and continued to pay attention.

paris was barely holding onto her conscious-self, dozing off at any second. "who would've ever thought we'd all get together and pull off a bank robbery, huh?" moscow says which was the last thing paris heard before she fells asleep, it didn't help that she was wearing a rather very comfortable sweater today. "yah! frenchy!" london shouted into her ear, startling the blonde. "h-huh?" she looked around and saw that everyone was staring at her, "sorry, insomnia things. i absolutely heard everything." paris smiled lazily and put two thumbs up, the professor sighed. "to sum it up, we have an idea of who the inspector from the south will be which would make our job easier." paris nodded, "yep. cool. knew that." she mumbled while adjusting herself to sit straight, berlin had a tiny smirk on his face.

after the meeting concluded, berlin and paris met outside. "insomnia, huh? that's why you were up all night? not because you were too busy moaning in my bed instead of sle-" "shhhut the fuck up before someone hears you!" paris cuts him off, shocked he was saying that in normal volume for anyone to hear. this made berlin snicker. "nothing to be embarrassed about, doll. besides, im pretty sure denver next door heard it perfectly." and he was not wrong, except denver thought somebody was crying and decided to mind his own business and plugged in earpods, not before wondering 'why does berlin sound like a girl when he cries?'.

paris rolls her eyes, "i could've gotten in trouble." "he's not your actual professor, worse he could do is slap your wrist, sweetheart." berlin half-mocked before lighting up a cigarette, "you should get some sleep, you look very tired." he tells her, grabbing onto her waist and pulling her closer to him. paris smiles at the action before noticing something behind him. rome and denver going for a walk around the fields.

"oh my god. is that rome and denver?" she asked particularly no one but herself in a whisper, "hmm?" berlin hummed only for paris to shake her head, "it's nothing. i just saw rome and denver walking together and now it seems like they're arguing" paris explained, berlin smiled cheekily. "should we interrupt their lovers' quarrel?" he asked in a devious tone, "what are you? a romance novel antagonist?" she joked, giggling at her own joke which made him giggle as well.

jumping back to the present, the military were going to infiltrate any second. the team did what they had planned to, use the hostages and show the police how they wouldn't be able to differentiate the hostages from the actual culprits. the hostages were screaming as the team pushed a few of them to the back entrance, forcing them to pose as the rest of team. berlin only smiled as he walked behind them. the best part? they had the u.s. ambassador's daughter as a hostage as well.

when the soldiers had retreated, everyone returned back to the lobby. "everyone take off your masks." berlin ordered at the top of the staircase, which everyone obliged. "thanks to your cooperation, the police completely aborted their mission to raid the building." at his words, denver, moscow and london laugh. "i want to applaud you all for being courageous and for your exceptional team work. we could not have done this without you." berlin started clapping and the whole team followed along, signalling the hostages to clap along, rather passive-aggressively. paris smiled at the team's leader who smiled back at her.

she knew this was only the start, that's why she was so nervous.
