Marlowe had always been confident when it came to her talent. She'd been praised for it by everybody, but her friends and teachers. She loved to perform, but sometimes Marlowe grew insecure when she watched other talented people. In the back of her mind, she always thought there was somebody more talented than her. Someone more deserving than her. She got in her own head and it sometimes it was hard to pull herself out.

As the auditions continued one-by-one, Marlowe grew more nervous. She sat on the floor with everyone and waited until it was her turn. When Knox was called up, she felt Luca shift on the floor beside her, and she felt his nervousness.

"What do you know?" Miss Jenn whispered to Carlos.

"Knox Fletcher. Co captain of the water polo team. Complete sweetheart. Theater and poetry lover. He played Mercutio in the 9th grade production of Romeo And Juliet. Also, he's insanely gorgeous." He spilled, swooning at the end.

"Okay, Knox, show us what you got."

Knox gave a single nod. "Okay." He stood on the floor with his script in his hand. He found Marlowe and motioned to her. "Marley, wanna help me out?"

She smiled. "Sure thing." She stood up and carefully moved past everyone. "What scene?"

"The one where Zeke talks to Sharpay at her locker," he whispered.

"Perfect." She smirked and got into character. Marlowe turned her back to him and crossed her arms, leaning on one hip,

Knox went and stood a few feet away from her. He looked down at the script for a second before walking up to her, smiling. "Hey Sharpay,"

Marlowe spun around with her arms still crossed and looked at him up and down in disgust that he was talking to her. It made everyone laugh.

"Um, I just thought since Troy Bolton was gonna be in your show—"

"Troy Bolton is not going to be in my show!" Marlowe interrupted him aggressively and pointed her finger in his face.

"Okay. . ." Knox trailed. She looked away and leaned on her hip again. "Well, I just thoughtt that maybe, um, you could watch me play ball sometime or something."

Marlowe stared at him for a minute before breathing out a laugh. She took a step closer to him. When she realized she was looking at his belly button, she leaned her head all the way up and it made the crowd that was watching them laugh more. She did Sharpay's narrow eye glare. "I'd rather stick pins in my eyes."

"Well, wouldn't that be awfully uncomfortable?"

"EVAPORATE, TALL PERSON!"

Knox blinked his eyes. "I-I bake! If that helps. . ." He called out as she walked away.
