Nine

Vandi's POV

  The only reason I loved high school was because it was better than home. If not high school is a just a place filled with people that live fake lives just to be a part of the crowd. But that didn't include my bestfriends; Rihanna and Alexia. We've been bestfriends since we were little. Rihanna's Dad was one of the wealthiest business man in Texas and Alexia's mum,well, she inherited her husband's wealth after he'd died in a car crash on his way back from visiting the president at white house.
They were the realest girls I'd ever come across and had always been there for me through thick and thin. But they didn't know my deepest secrets, the secrets I'd shared with Kenzy Anderson the night of the sleepover.

  I didn't even know why I did that. We weren't even friends but we were not enemies either and I had a trust in her that she wasn't going to tell anyone. Except Lisa, her bestfriend.
Obviously, she was going to tell Lisa. They were bestfriends and so far I know, they don't keep secrets from each other.

  Spending the night with them was a bit weird but really cool. They made me forget about daddy and my issues with him but it only lasted for the night, didn't it?.

The next day i was back at my dad's house and the trauma continued. With my Dad still reminding me that I owed him and my mum accusing me of stealing my sister which, well, she wasn't wrong, I don't think I'm gonna survive another week in the house. But it was all part of the scheme, wasn't it?.

They get rid of us and all the wealth becomes theirs alone. I mean, we were always the distraction, their setback. Two females with nothing to offer, my dad would always say. I was going to prove him wrong. MnM was just the beginning.

"Hey Kayden" I greeted. My pretence smile to make everyone think I'm fine was plastered on my face.

"Hey Vandi. Whatsup?" He was looking bright, as usual. Never without his two best buddies; Cole and Louis. Thier bromance is endless.

"Where's Lisa and Kenzy?"

"Bradford's office" Bradford was our principal. He was literally the coolest principal in the world.

"What did they....never mind" I waved the question off. I didn't want to show I cared. "Kayden, do you have a sec?"

"Sure V, what is it?"

I gave him a "do you really want me to say it here?" look. He got the message and excused himself.

  In a milisecond, we were already strolling slowly down the hall.

"If it's about what we talked about V, I haven't changed my mind"

"What do you mean you haven't changed you mind. You promised to help me"

"I know but that's a stupid idea".

I sighed in frustration. "Kay, you of all people know what we're against. I have to work something out"

"What if your plan falls through?"

"What if it doesn't?. Please Kay, you promised to do anything"

He rubbed his forehead with his palm and sighed. "Okay Vandi, I'll help..."

"Yes!..."

"But if it does backfire, then we're going to do things my way"

"Deal" I hugged and pecked him. "I love you"

He smiled. "I love you too"

Kenzy's POV

I had one mission. Find out what Kayden and his guys were planning and work out how to backfire thier plan. So it was two missions. It made me sick because I for one wasn't cut out for things like this. I kill bad people, I wasn't some dumb watch guy but I had no choice.

  Lisa on the other hand, had a house to bug. The problem wasn't bugging the house, the main obstacle was getting into the house. One way or another she had to get into Kayden's house.
Mission impossible?. We wouldn't know.

  Louis hugged me from behind scaring the life out of me. It was a Friday morning and fucking boring. "Dammit Louis"

"If it isn't my favourite girl"

"Right. Let go of me".

"You hurt me Louis". Lisa said. "I thought I was your favourite girl. No need to worry, I have Kayden and Cole".

Louis chuckled leaning his head on my shoulder. "Isn't it too early too claim men?"

"I suggest an outing" Lisa said. "Tonight. Let's hang out as bestfriends"

I noticed the looks they exchanged.

"Don't tell me you guys are going to say no. This is the first time we're going to hang out together on a weekend at night" I said placing thorough emphasis on my last words.

"Seconded"Louis agreed.

One down. Two to go.

Cole and Kayden remained hesitant. It was only a few seconds until Cole said, "Alright sure. I mean, it's a Friday night"

Two down. One to... Shut up inside voice.

I did a small victory clap. "It's settled. We're hanging out tonight"

"Heyy, I didn't even agree to this" Kayden objected.

"Sorry Haynes but the majority always wins"

"It would be a bummer if you don't come Kayden. What would you even be doing on a Friday night?" Lisa queried.

"I have this thing with Vandi..."

Louis fake coughed. "Slut alert" he mocked.

Kayden tilted his head towards him. An unexpected rage sparked in his eyes. I've never seen him look so furious. "What did you say?"

"Hey bro chill out. It's a joke"

"Yeah, chill out Kayden" I seconded. "No one's taking it serious"

After a long minute of delayed hard glare on all of us, "You know what, fuck it. Enjoy your night" he walked out.

"Wow, that was intense". Lisa breathed.

"Why would he even defend Mandy...
"
"Vandi" I corrected

"Vandi like that."

"It's possible they're together. I mean he's always with her and vice versa. Now, he's spending the weekend with her. It kinds of add up"

Cole and I was quiet the whole time. I didn't know what Cole was thinking but I definitely know I was wondering about what had just happened two minutes ago. It's been a month since I've know Kayden and I'd never seen him get so defensive about anybody. Everyone knows how much of a jerk he is and how he hardly takes anyone or anything serious. His sudden exasperating today had to be a shock to everyone. But it made me wonder...

What relationship did Kayden and Vandi share?. Hopefully, it was just a crush.

Unknown POV

  She hugged him in an urge to console him.
"I'm sorry they did that".

A light smile escaped from his lips. "I'm the one who's supposed to apologise to you"

She released him from the hug. "It's fine. They don't know anything but you could have hung out with them though. I can take care of myself"

"I promised to be with you this night. I don't go back on my word"

She chuckled. "I love you"

"I love you too"
