Jungkook and Taehyung both screamed and stumbled backwards, falling on top of eachother with a loud thud.
"What the hell was that?!" Taehyung cried. Kin-so seemed completely un-phased by the sound that just escaped from deep in the woods.
"That...is what happens when you try to leave. Like I told you, there is no escape from here," Kin-so replied. Taehyung and Jungkook stayed on the ground. They were attached at the hip. Neither of them could believe what they'd just heard. Kin-so was telling the truth. There were people out there, and they were watching. They looked at eachother with fear and then back up at Kin-so.
"Where even is 'here'? Where are we going?!" Jungkook cried.
"To the highest bidder." Kin-so turned and walked away, trailing over to one of the fires, sitting alone.
Jungkook turned and looked at Taehyung, "Hyungie...someone was just...we just heard...I.." Jungkook lost his voice as he got choked up with tears. Taehyung pulled him into a hug and kissed the top of his head. He let his own tears drop into Jungkook's hair.
"This really is it for us. There's no way out," Jungkook cried.
Taehyung grabbed Jungkook's cheeks in his hands. "Hey. Don't you dare say that, you hear me?! This isn't over, and don't you dare give up on me! We're not even supposed to be here, Kookie. Someone will find us. Hyungs will find us!"
Jungkook couldn't help but suddenly feel angry. We're not even supposed to be here. Jungkook pushed Taehyung away from him.
"You mean you're not supposed to be here!" Jungkook screamed and stood up. Taehyung stood up next to him, Jungkook's outburst caught him off guard.
"What?" Taehyung asked confused.
"You aren't supposed to be here Taehyung! Those men weren't after you! They were after me! You could have ran! You could have gotten away!" Jungkook screamed. He was so incredibly mad at Taehyung for not escaping when he had the chance. He felt like this would have been a lot easier for him if he didn't have to worry about his hyungs safety on top of his own. It would have been less heartbreaking for him to know that Taehyung had made it back safely to their hyungs instead of getting himself roped into this.
"Could have gotten away?! You expected me to just leave you?!" Taehyung screamed in defense.
"Yes!" Jungkook cried.
"You can't be serious! Jungkook I wasn't about to just watch you get taken from me and turn and run the other way! Why would I do that?!" Taehyung cried. "And how could you be mad at me for that?!"
"Because you should be safe right now!" Jungkook cried. "That man had a gun against you, hyung! Someone was just shot!" Jungkook completely burst into tears, "That could have easily been you and I don't know what I'd do if you were...if you were...I just wish you were at home." Jungkook covered his face with his hands as he cried.
Taehyung took a step backwards. He frowned with offense and crossed his arms.
"Is that what you would have done?" Taehyung asked hesitantly.
"What?" Jungkook asked, looking at his hyung.
"If it was me instead of you, is that what you would have done?" Taehyung asked sternly. "Turned the other way and ran? Given the chance?"
Taehyung felt his heart breaking.
"Of course not," Jungkook cried and stepped towards Taehyung. Taehyung took an angry step backwards.
"Hyung...I wouldn't have left you..." Jungkook said, his voice getting quiet. He could tell Taehyung seemed hurt and it was making him nervous. Although he wished Taehyung hadn't gotten involved, he also knew that his hyung was the only person in the world he had right now.
"Then don't yell at me for not leaving you either. I'm your hyung, Jungkook. It is my job to protect you," Taehyung replied. "And we both know how much you need that right now."
"I'm sorry." Jungkook took a step towards Taehyung, he wanted to hug him, but the older took another step backwards. Taehyung still couldn't help but feel hurt by what Jungkook had said. He thought if anything his maknae would be grateful that they were together and had eachother for protection, not angry about it.
"Hyung I said I was sorry..." Jungkook pouted.
"Just leave me alone," Taehyung whispered. He made his way into the empty tent, assuming it was for them, and lay down. Jungkook stood there frozen not knowing what to think or do. Is hyung really mad at me?
He decided to give Taehyung what he wanted. He looked around and saw other men at the camp sitting around campfires. He saw Kin-so and made his way over, sitting next to him.
"Where did all of them come from?" Jungkook asked, gesturing to those around them.
"They come in waves," Kin-so replied.
"What do you mean?" Jungkook asked confused.
"We're just another herd of slaves to be sold, kid. Taken through this path, and sold."
Jungkook gulped. Slaves. That was the last word he wanted to hear. He went silent.
Kin-so spoke up again. "That one you're with, he your brother?" he asked, gesturing to the tent Taehyung was in. Jungkook nodded.
"He's mad at me." Jungkook pouted and couldn't help but feel the need to vent his frustrations out. He didn't even care to who right now. A stranger would do. Kin-so seemed like a trustworthy, honest guy. Especially after warning them about not running away.
However, Kin-so didn't have much to say. Jungkook expected some kind of advice and felt more sad when he wasn't given any. There was silence between the two. Jungkook looked back at the tent Taehyung was in and bit his quivering bottom lip. He wondered how long his hyung would be angry at him. He didn't understand how his hyung could possibly wonder if Jungkook would have left him behind. Never. I would have never left him behind. I shouldn't have expected him to leave me behind either. I'm sorry hyung.
Jungkook stood up, he suddenly desperately wanted to be with Taehyung, angry or not. As he went to step away, Kin-so grabbed him.
"Huh?" Jungkook turned and looked at the man who was now holding firmly onto his arm. "What are you doing? Let go of me."
"We're leaving," Kin-so said as he started dragging Jungkook towards the woods.
"What?! What do you mean we're leaving?! We can't leave! We'll get shot! Someone just got shot! Are you crazy?! Get off me!" Jungkook screamed. Kin-so kept dragging him closer to the woods. Jungkook completely panicked and tried throwing himself onto the ground, but Kin-so picked him up.
"Let go of me! You're going to get us killed!" Jungkook screamed, "What the hell are you doing?!"
"People have failed to escape on their own, but I may be able to with a human shield," Kin-so said as he continued to carry Jungkook away. Jungkook's heart was beating right out of his chest. He didn't know how stupid Kin-so could be. Human shield?! He's trying to use me to protect himself from getting shot?! He'll kill me!
Jungkook started kicking in the air, "Let me go!" he screamed. "Taehyung! Taehyung help!"
Kin-so clamped his hand over Jungkook's mouth to shut him up as he dragged him into the darkness. Jungkook's screams were muffled as his tears soaked Kin-so's hand.
Taehyung ran out of the tent when he heard Jungkook screaming. He saw Kin-so disappearing into the woods with Jungkook in his grip. He looked around and saw that none of the other men at the camp were even trying to help or do anything about it.
"What the hell is wrong with all of you?! Help him!" Taehyung screamed as he ran towards the woods. He couldn't see Kin-so or Jungkook anymore.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he heard another gun shot go off as he began screaming.
"Jungkook! No!"
