Aurora pressed up against the wall behind the plants, fighting down a wave of panic. The only good thing was that the elderly man had managed to slip out the clutches of Typhoon's men to escape out the back. But her on the other hand...
Hot tears streamed down her cheeks, and she hung her head as she waited to be -
A hand slapped over her mouth and she was dragged into the extreme corner of the restaurant behind a grouping of especially large leaves.
"Now!"
She knew that voice! But how did he, - where did he -?
She stopped struggling instinctively as she was pushed up against the wall by Robot Boy, who was shielding her as SI Agents flooded the restaurant.
One Lazer Shot was fired, - and then all went still.
Robot Boy stepped aside, pulling her out of the leafy corner. She stumbled after him, but looked around, freezing when she realized Typhoon and his men, - were all gone. With Lazuli, no doubt haven jumped over the counter, fleeing out the open back door the elderly man had used to escape.
Lazuli! Where are they taking her? What will they do to her!?
With those frantic thoughts, she stepped out further, stepping carefully over the broken glass.
Her SI Guards filled the restaurant and they were all staring disapprovingly at her. An agitated Tyrian stood in the center, but her agitation surpassed even theirs.
"Why are you letting them get away? Go after them! They took her!"
"Who, Aurora?" Tyrian asked tightly. "What kind of stunt was this? You do realize this whole time we knew exactly where you were."
"I know you knew!" Aurora cried. "Look, lecture me later. Everyone, please. They're getting away!"
"The MPF have been deployed, that's their job Aurora!" Tyrian snapped in exasperation.
"But the MPF always lets them get away! They always get away! The MPF is the lowest intelligence agency in rank, why is it always supposed to be their job to chase around the Underground?!"
Tyrian rose his hands in a placating motion. "It just is. Aurora, the main thing is that you're safe -"
"No, they have her! Doesn't anyone understand a word I'm saying?! They have that little girl!"
Tyrian's eyes grew stern. "Instead of thanking your guards for watching out for you again, after you foolishly ran away into harm's way again, you rant and rave because your guards don't immediately chase after the young relative of an Underground leader? What's wrong with you Aurora? When will you ever learn?"
Like a bucket of ice water, Tyrian's angry words made her look around at her guards.
All of them stood with straight postures, many avoiding eye contact, some staring at the ground. All of them were professional enough to hide their emotions, but she couldn't help but imagine what emotions they were hiding.
The frustration they most likely felt.
They didn't know what it was like to be her. But she didn't know how it was like to be like them.
Constantly risking their lives to protect the most wanted girl in Existence who kept risking her life, willingly?
Not only did the date go wrong, not only is Tyrian and my entire Guard upset with me, but Lazuli is gone! All I ever seem to do is Mess. Things. Up.
