Christina's POV
"Are you sure about this?" I stalled.
"This is our mission." Liam paused and looked at me with a frown and weary eyes. "Why are you hesitating all of a sudden?"
Why I'm hesitating? Well, we're about to go in deeper into the woods testing our luck to find the princess and drag her back to mommy and daddy, not forgetting that we have to kill every single witness and not die in the process.
Oh! Did I forget to mention that we have a freaking army at our side? An old fashioned army with swords, alright some have guns, but an army nonetheless.
No, Liam. I'm not hesitating, I'm trying to save our asses.
"It's not that. Everything just seems...wrong." I opted for that answer instead. Blowing up like that would've gotten me killed.
He frowned again.
"If you're worried about dying, well..." he coughed and blushed a little. "I'll make sure you don't."
Before I could even react he was walking away to talk to some of the guards.
He cares.
Liam cares.
Oh my god... He has a heart!
This is getting harder and way more complicated than I expected.
Casually, as if going to pee into the woods, I walked away. Everyone left me alone since I'm the only girl here, so no one questioned why I was walking away right before we went into the wolves den. Because that's where we're headed, nobody believes it but its true. The princess and her friends aren't people you should mess with and they were about to prove that.
Once I was far enough to not be seen, I took out a phone I stole. Yes I stole a phone, and I'm not proud of it, but my life sort of depends on it so it had to be done.
Having the number carved on my brain I began to write the text. Hoping Blair and whoever was by her side would run or simply disappear.
I clicked the send option and placed the phone back inside my pocket, then walked back to were everyone was gathered.
As I walked closer I picked up pieces of the conversation.
"...We can't know where they walked from here."
"It could be a trap, maybe they are on a plane at this very moment."
"That's true, the car could've been just to delay us."
"And if they're here we can't possibly pin point to which side they left. They could've walked anywhere."
The guards kept talking and talking. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Liam rubbing his forehead, he's annoyed. There was also a tick to his jaw.
"Enough!"
The guards became gradually quiet after Liam's direct order.
But I don't think that it was actually because of the part about the direct order. Liam looked scary, about to kill anyone.
I flinched.
"You're giving me a fucking headache. If Henry's man say that the princess is here, we'll search for the princess here. Is that clear?"
Everyone stared.
"I said...It's that clear?!" he shouted this time, making me take another step back.
I haven't seen him this angry, and I've known him for a very long time. Sure, I've seen him mad. But this? This is a whole different level. If he could, he'll chop your head with his eyes.
