You wonder if you're ever going to leave this place.

You wanted a new life somewhere exciting, where nobody knew you and you could have a small house with a fireplace and a nice library and a soft couch. People would finally want you for you, and maybe you'd even start your own business that did something interesting.

But for now...

Honestly, the room you've been given isn't that bad. It still has the same uncomfortable chill as the rest of the castle, but it's the best you're going to get for now. Your room back in your old home was much bigger, but that was too big. This room is an excellent hexagonal shape, fit with a poster bed, a large dresser, a table with a nice comfy chair, and your favourite part, a large bay window stemming all the way up to the window, fit with plenty of pillows and blankets.

You're beginning to see a common theme of black, silver, and gold throughout the castle. You rub curtains on your poster bed between your fingers. They're made of a thick velvet with beautiful patterns that shine in the warm light of the tall candelabra next to your desk. You wonder the cost of just this room alone.

You're currently sat at the formerly mentioned window with all the nice pillows and blankets pushed far away from you so that you don't dirty them with the layers of mud stuck on your clothes.

The dresser has clothes, lovely ones at that, but ever since Cross told you to stay in your room and not leave until he comes back, there's been this sensation you can't shake off. Your skin tingles with the feeling of being watched.

You sigh once more and lean back into the wall, admiring the detailed painting of constellations on the roof. You can recognise some of the constellations from your late-night reading. You've always had a thing for the nighttime sky. Maybe it's the way it made you feel back in your old home; like you had just a moment to yourself to really be at peace, listening to the soft sounds of nature outside your balcony. A gentle breeze rustling through the trees, crickets chirping, the occasional call of a wild animal.

You listen for those same sounds here.

Nothing.

Well, almost nothing. If you close your eyes and listen well, you can hear the distant rumble of thunder. It's weirdly comforting to you, hearing at least that amongst the unnerving silence surrounding the castle.

There isn't even anything nice to look at outside! Sure, the lighting flashing through the clouds in the distance looks utterly breathtaking, but... From your vantage point in this tower- you're assuming it's a tower- all you can see are trees! A weirdly large amount of pines. Tall pines, dead pines, dying pines. The occasional clearing. A hill with a single, lone stump (the sight makes you feel sad and alone, for some reason) A pond next to a cave, a sight you had to press your cheek against the cold glass to see faintly in the distance.

You assume that's where Cross chased you down. The memory brings anger and reminds you of your aching legs.

You puff out a breath of air angrily. You feel as if you've been sitting here for hours, and this castle is so damn cold! But you can't ask that stupid skeleton if they have a bathroom for you to clean up in because you're not allowed to find him, and if you can't shower then you can't get changed, and if you can't get changed then you can't lie down in that nice looking bed!

Curses!

You stand up and pace your floor, ignoring the sharp pain in your legs.

What's the worst that could happen if you go looking for Cross? You're fairly sure you remember the way back to his boss' office, maybe he'd be there?

You walk over to the door and open it, looking around for any signs of Cross before shutting it and going back to pacing your room.

Maybe you should just wait. Who knows what else awaits you in this corridors?
