Sans was famously known amongst the Underground. Monsters and humans feared him after making a name for himself years back.
He was well known for his torturing methods and skills. Of course that wasn't the only reason people walked faster if they saw him in their path.
He was a Gaster. And everybody knows who runs Snowdin city.
Sans, Papyrus & WingDing. Most deadly individuals in the entire Underground. The brothers were practically unstoppable.
But of course, not invincible.
Back when The Underground was ran by the king and queen, things were .. a lot worse. To say the least.
If a human was seen. They'd immediately get taken to Agsore.
But monsters became greedy. Jealous of their King, and how he was the only one to have a human.
So In secret, humans became wealthy trade items. Being sold for high prices like gold. Even if it was for their physical body, or soul.
Rumors spread. Saying, if one consumed a human soul .. they'd be stronger then they could ever dream of.
Many tested these rumors. And sadly, meeting their own demises.
Their soul not absorbing the humans. Resulting in them loosing their mind trying to keep themselves together.
If a human soul didn't connect to the monster, in few days time you were dust. So people gave up on the theory.
Except for King Asgore. Oh, he tried. Pushing his lead scientist to do all his dirty work. To make sure he could pull it off. Become so powerful no one would ever challenge him for King.
The thought of power ran through his head for only bad intentions. As he managed to only consume one human soul in total. His body not handling anymore.
His mind and body corrupted. People began to fear their ruler. Even started to rebel against him.
The three areas of The Underground split apart. Being ruled but different dons, having no single King. Constantly at war.
But how did the Gaster brothers become dons themselves?
They rose in power like every other monster. Selling weapons, making deals, murdering monsters for their own benefit.
Or, that's what people thought.
