Scarlet eyes widened when they fell on the date. February 14th. The heat was already halfway finished with only eight more days to go. The thought created a strange feeling within Bakugou Katsuki. He found himself watching as the clock counted down with no one to snap him out of it since both Izuku and Shouto had a meeting to attend to.
Before leaving his own apartment two days prior, Katsuki made sure to grab his own cell phone and its charger. He spent the better part of two hours talking to his mother, who texted him every day for the last eight, asking him where he ran off to, if he was safe, and other shit she knew he would never tell her. The woman knew of his line of work. Hell, she taught him everything he knew. She also knew his missions remained secret to protect both her and himself. After all, he followed in her footsteps.
With his own cell, he finally got the chance to entertain himself while the two alphas attended to their duties. He owned a variety of free-to-play games because he often found himself waiting for a target to make an appearance. For the first hour, he lied in his nest while playing one of the games. Once he got bored, he moved on to watching a movie on the small device. Izuku and Shouto had a television in their room, but never once did they turn it on. Katsuki wondered if they lost the remote or something.
After the movie, Shouto returned. The two-toned alpha walked straight to the closet, brows pinched together and worry faintly in his scent. While Shouto kept a straight face, his scent spoke louder than words, and Katsuki found himself entering the walk-in closet.
"Is something wrong?" The omega inquired. He felt his own brows furrow. The sickly sweet smell of fresh caramel seeped out from him involuntarily as an attempt to calm Shouto's nerves.
When the alpha continued to remain silent as he changed from his more relaxed work clothes to a tight-fitting, dark blue suit, Katsuki's frown deepened.
"Oi!" He called out, much louder and with a twinge of irritation. The striking mix of cerulean and stormy grey looked up to meet pure scarlet. "The fuck's wrong?"
A heavy sigh escaped Shouto, and he paused momentarily to pinch the bridge of his nose. "One of our trades went wrong. Izuku and I were called to come help settle the situation."
"Let me come with you." Katsuki demanded immediately.
"No. Not a chance." Shouto argued as he buttoned his trousers. "I can't guarantee your safety."
A low growl rumbled within the omega's throat. "Doesn't fucking matter. I'm a trained fucking assassin, Shouto. I can shoot a damned bullseye from three thousand meters. Let me protect you and Izuku."
A beat of silence passed. In reality, it probably lasted a second or two, but to Katsuki, it felt like an hour. "Fine." Shouto gave in with a huff of hot air. He finished dressing himself before addressing Katsuki once more. "The room we'll be in has a one-way window. On the other side will be armed people waiting for the signal to kill us, take our money, and leave. They already fucking shot Uraraka. She's safe, and she'll be okay, but it's the damned principle."
An emotion Katsuki had not felt in a long time came to remind him of its existence. The mere idea of Ochako being so much as scratched set off alarm bells in his head and heart. His stomach twisted, and he wanted to commit a murder.
"Follow." Shouto demanded. He stormed out with Katsuki following immediately behind him. "You need to break into the room with eyes on the trade, but it won't be easy. The only way you can have guaranteed success is to scale the brick wall."
A scoff escaped the blonde. He loved to rock climb, and surely bricks could not be terribly different. "That's easy shit."
Shouto stopped then turned to face him. Red and white brows rose up curiously. "Twenty-three stories?"
