It was Friday. Second day at the school. The counselor recommended I go with Maya to the bake sale. Maya was there and insisted I go with her so there was no getting out of it. I had to get up earlier because we had to be their by the time school open.
" So this is our wonderful bake sale. Cookies and brownies are $3 each. A piece of cake is $5." Maya said.
" Cake at 7:30 in the morning. This school just gets worse and worse."
"Listen I know it's hard being new but your a cool person. You'll fit in"
That's the thing. I don't want to fit in here
I just responded to her with a smile.
Students were coming in wanting every sweet they could get their hand on.
"Hey. Could I get a 2 brownies" a light skinned girl said.
She was really pretty
"Yea sure. It'll be $6."
"Damn $3 for one brownie. This school really is money hungry"
"Yea I guess so" I chuckled.
" What's your name. Your really pretty." She said. It caught me off guard.
" My name is Taylen. Yours?"
" Raelyn. Are you new here? How come I've never seen you before?"
" Yea. My mom and I moved here for Texas. My first day was yesterday."
"Oh. Welcome. How you liking it so far."
Its been better since I met you
"It's been okay. I'll get adjusted"
"Okay. Just let me know if you need anything. Here I can give you my number."
"Okay." I said happily
We swapped phones and put in our numbers.
"See you around love."she said walking away.
" girl y'all was flirting for real." Maya said
" Yea i guess so"
When I got home that afternoon the first thing I did was go upstairs and text Raelyn
Hey Raelyn
Hey Taylen. Wyd?
Nothing I just got home. Kinda hungry though.
Yea same. Where you wanna go? I can take you somewhere. Show you around the city too.
Okay Sure!
Shake Shack
even thought it's in Boston. Is that okay.
Yeah. That's fine with me love.
I'll pick you up now.
Okay. My address is * instert address*
Okay. I live only 10 minutes away. Be there shortly.
I know this wasn't a date this was just a hang out up still. Im really excited to spend time with her.
10 minutes later.
I hear the doorbell ring thinking it was Raelyn. It was.
"Hey" I said nervously
"Hey. You ready?"
"Yea let me just grab my purse" i said going away from the door and getting my purse from the kitchen.
