"Komaeda!" Hinata grabbed his hand. "I... I'm sorry for being so rude to you the other day and... I wanna ask you out to the school dance!"
"Huh?" Komaeda blushed.
"Do you wanna go to the dance with me?" He asked again.
Komaeda smiled. "I'd love to!"
"Cool." Hinata grinned happily.
Later that day, Komaeda thought about it more. The dance was soon which meant dozens of people would start asking him out again like always. Now that it was open to the public that he didn't like girls that way, he hoped at least they would stop asking him out so there'd be less people who wanted to go out with him.
And the next day, it began. A boy from the baseball team walked up to Komaeda and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey there, Komaeda-kun! Wanna go to the dance with me?"
"No, thank you." He smiled.
"Wha-?!"
That same day, one of the football players asked him as well.
"Sorry, but no." He smiled again.
It kept happening and three days later, the guys who had all been rejected by him decided to confront Komaeda about it. After school, they cornered him as he waited for his driver to pick him up.
"Why don't you wanna go out with any of us?" One of them asked.
"We'd make the perfect couple!" Another one argued.
"I already have a date," he told them.
"Huh? Who?" A boy asked.
"Hinata-kun,"
"Wha- Hinata?!" They repeated in unison.
He nodded, smiling.
"Why that guy?!"
"He asked me out and I like him,"
"Don't you have a boyfriend?"
"I do. I don't like Hinata-kun like that... just as a friend. Besides, you guys asked me out too, didn't you?"
"I don't believe that. You rejected all the popular guys for him?"
"Hinata-kun is quite popular too. And even if he wasn't, I wouldn't care. He's my best friend,"
"You probably just don't think we'd makes good dates, huh?" One boy asked. "We're gonna prove you wrong!" He grinned.
Komaeda shook his head. "No need, that won't change anything,"
"Nope, the challenge is already accepted!" They promised him.
Komaeda just rolled his eyes. They probably meant nothing by that anyways. He later had a photoshoot where both his and Kamukura's manager were at again. Komaeda wanted to confront Nakamura about the fight he had gotten into. So, when the photoshoot was over, he walked towards him.
"Nakamura-san, what was the fight with Watanabe-san about? Last time I asked, you just walked away,"
Nakamura sighed and looked off to the side. "He was angry at me for not always hurrying you up and telling you to stay professional. I told him that it's not the right way to treat clients, especially not ones as young as you guys and he began attacking me," He explained.
"Can't you report him to the police for assault?"
"I... I'm not gonna do that. If he ever hurts you, deal with it like that if you find it appropriate, but I won't. In the manager world, he's pretty famous and my reputation would take a hit if I got him fired,"
"I see. That's understandable... I guess..."
"Ah, but while we're already talking, I need to tell you something. From now on, you'll act in a few ads, alright? Like, video ones,"
"Oh, I see. I'm not a good actor though,"
"It's just ads, it's fine,"
"If you say so." He shrugged.
After that, Kamukura asked Komaeda to go to the park with him, to which the other boy agreed. They sat on a bench and Komaeda had his head on Kamukura's shoulder. They had gotten pretty used to showing affection in public like that by now.
"Do you want to know why I knew the man at your school wasn't my father?"
"Ah, sure." He looked at Kamukura.
"My mother had been obsessed with making me a model from a young age. My father got so annoyed with it that he filed for a divorce. There is no way he would ever drive me to a photoshoot,"
"Oh... I see." He looked down at the ground.
"You're the only one I've ever told that. But... its not as though it's a very sad story. I don't care that my parents don't love each other. In fact, I don't care for my mother much at all,"
"But that is sad... your mom should act in a way that you can love her," Komaeda told him.
"Do you love your mother?"
Komaeda smiled and nodded. "Mhm!"
"She forced you to work too though, correct?"
"It was for my own good,"
"For your own good?" Kamukura asked. "How so?"
"My parents were very poor when I was younger. They made me work so I could have a good childhood,"
"Couldn't they find jobs?"
"My dad has always been poor, so he never got the best education. And my mom... well, it's hard to explain, but they tried. They have part-time jobs now,"
"Part time. So you still make most of the money?"
"Y-yes, but..."
"But?"
Komaeda looked away from him. "But..."
"But?"
"I-I mean... they're still good parents,"
"If you say so. Sorry for pressuring you,"
"It's okay." He looked at him again. "Ah, you don't think I'll get in trouble if I go on a date with a guy that isn't you, right?" He nervously smiled.
"What?"
"For a school dance. Uhm, Hinata-kun asked me out,"
"The boy from the other day?"
"Mhm,"
"I don't think so, but..." Kamukura trailed off. He felt something odd. Like jealousy or something. Did he... like Komaeda for real? No way. Kamukura never liked people.
"But what?"
"You're my boyfriend,"
"I know, but... you know. It's not like I'll be cheating on you,"
"Yes, but don't get too comfortable,"
Komaeda giggled. "You're taking this too seriously. As long as nobody finds out, it'll be fine, right?" He then kissed Kamukura's cheek. "It's getting late. I should go home. See you around."
