Kierra: What?

Johnathan: Marry me.

Kierra: Jo, I just got a divorce.

Johnathan: love takes time but I've been waiting for years

Kierra: I don't think you know what you're saying.

Johnathan: I do baby I love you, and you know I've said you were my wife since I met you.

Kierra: John knowing something and acting on it are two different things.

Johnathan: Kierra don't push me away I know it's soon but, I guess you aren't ready and that's ok.

Kierra: You've never been married, you have no idea what it's like and the baggage that comes with it.

Johnathan: No I haven't been married but I know what I want, as a man and a husband and I want that with you as my wife

Kierra: John it's not that easy.

Johnathan: You're projecting and you don't have to, just say you don't want to be married.

Kierra: I want to marry you just not at this very moment.

Maria: Well I certainly hope not, you two are hardly together let alone ready to be married I'd say at least wait four more months.

They both turn and See Maria walking up the stairs of the house.

Maria: What? You both look like you've seen a ghost. Quite frankly I adore Kierra and I don't appreciate the way you're proposing, I feel you should try this again and better I raised gentlemen after all.

Johnathan: Mom what are doing here?

Kierra: I should go inside and let you two talk.

As Kierra turns to walk away Maria lightly touches her arm and Kierra turns to face her.

Maria: No, I- I want to talk to you and I... I want to apologize for my reactions to all of your news tonight.

Kierra: Maria that's sweet,... I accept your apology. Thank you for that.

Johnathan: Mom I love you but, I also love Kierra and your behavior was not cool-

Kierra: Jo, don't that's not...

Johnathan: Hold on honey, Mom you have been the number one lady in my life for as long as I have been alive but you have to be respectful, and have boundaries Kierra and I are both private people, you won't know every time something happens and when but you'll always know we are good and when we aren't you'll know that too, You will be a big part of your grandchild's life and any more kids we have after that but you have to respect our space and I promise you'll never be out in the dark, thank you for apologizing it means a lot.

Maria: Well, it seems I raised you right, and I'm happy I did I am sorry for my behavior and I hope that you and I can get together soon and talk.

Kierra: Maria you know I love you of course, we  can talk and maybe you can join me and Mom for brunch tomorrow.

Maria: That sounds wonderful I'll bring Nakota.

Kierra: Perfect, invite Myra as well it'll be a mother-daughter brunch.

Maria: Sounds good I am going to bed but I'll see you tomorrow at brunch.
