"finally it looks how i want it to in here." you said sitting down on your twin bed. you had just moved into your dorm at stanford university and everything was finally set up in the right way.

"ok don't party too much here and don't forget to call us when your roommate comes." your mom told you as she and your dad gave you a long hug before deciding to leave.

they had been there with you since 9 this morning and were flying out to leave tomorrow night and go back home.

by the next day you had gotten used to the campus a little and knew where a few places were.

people were still moving in left and right so you figured you'd go get food and head back to your dorm in case your roommate came.

just around 10am your door opened and in walked a boy and his parents you were guessing with all his things.

"hi can i help you?" you asked them wondering why they were in here and slightly hoping it wasn't what you had in mind.

"this is my dorm?" he said back saying it more like a question.

"are you sure? i didn't think this was a co-gender dorm." you said remembering most of them would specify it during sign up.

"let's just go downstairs and see if we can sort this out somehow." his mom said putting down his things.

you followed behind them to the front desk trying to figure out this whole mix up.

"hi um my name is gabby. my dorm is on the 4th floor and me and my roommate were both wondering why or how we got paired." you said as she typed up some things into her computer finding the information.

"oh yes i see what happened. because of the time the both of you signed up for dorms and didn't put anyone to pair with we put you both together at random. we can change it out but because of everyone moving in it may take a few weeks to get settled with a new roommate, would y'all like to do that?" she explained to all of you.

him and his parents talked for a second before deciding that it would be easier to just keep the dorm arrangements that they have now instead of taking away from the time they currently have.

"ok so since you're deciding on staying i guess i should introduce myself. i'm gabby, what's your name?" you asked trying to get to know him on the way back to the dorm.

"andrej." he said reaching out to shake your hand. "ok well nice to meet you andrej."

you could already tell he's gonna be a little standoffish but too late now.
