It was unusually quiet in Potter manor despite many of the cousins being there. Lily, Pandora and Hugo were studying hard for their OWLS which were literally the next summer, but according to Lily, "it's never too early to start studying!".

Albus, Scorpius and Rose had just finished their last year at Hogwarts so they were discussing their plans for the future quietly. Rose wanted to work in the ministry, following her mother's footsteps and fighting for muggle-born rights. Scorpius was sure he wanted to start a business but was unsure of what kind of business exactly. Albus on the other hand was completely undecided. "I mean, whatever I choose to do, people are going to compare me to Dad and James. I mean look what they did to James when he first started! The only reason they laid off is because he's an amazing chaser. Remember how they kept going on about how Dad would be disappointed about how James didn't become an auror and that one article by Skeeter with a huge, completely fake argument between them?" The other two nodded solemnly. It had been a trying time for the family but they knew it was unavoidable, what with living in the spotlight and all. "Really, whatever I choose to do, work in the ministry, they'll say I'm not brave enough for the auror corps, then if I join the aurors they'll compare me to Dad, if I play quidditch they'll compare me to James, anything else, I won't be good enough! I hate it sometimes!" Al ranted. Rose put her hand on his shoulder. "I know Al, I know." And indeed they all did. All of them had huge expectations to live up to, but Albus, somehow always seemed to have the most.

Albus looked around and decided to change the gloomy subject. He noticed that Pandora and Lily were kissing, rather than working and smiled. It had taken some time to get used to, but everyone had been mostly accepting of Lily and Pandora's relationship. Ginny took more time to get used to it and Teddy changed his hair to rainbow colours and kept it like that for a week in a show of support until Ginny accepted it. Lily had been rather more fond of Teddy ever since and had a soft spot for him. Rather than interrupting them and risking Lily's fiery temper, he turned his attention to Victoire and Teddy who had also started passionately making out on the couch. He grinned. "Oi you two! Get a room!" he yelled, breaking the abnormal silence and making everyone laugh as the Victoire got up red-faced, straightening her clothes. Teddy on the other hand sat up coolly as though nothing had happened but his calm facade was totally in contrast to his hair which was switching colours so quickly it was a rainbow mess. This just made everyone laugh harder. Fred and James came rushing in upon hearing the noise. "What's going on? What's so funny?" James asked, desperate to be in on any joke.

Rose started to explain when she caught sight of James' and behind his back. "James, what do you have with you?"

"Why nothing dear Rosie, nothing at all," he replied. But his guilty eyes gave him away.

"James, what did you do?" asked Victoire wearily.

"Vic! Don't you trust me? I'm nineteen now!" exclaimed James in mock hurt.

"No, no one believes you, James, no matter how old you are. Now show us what it is!" said Lily impatiently.

"Hey! It wasn't all me! Fred was on it too!" He said, pointing accusingly at Fred.

"Oi! I didn't do anything, just followed you to Uncle Harry's study!" replied Fred indignantly, not realising he had just gotten James into huge trouble.

"You were in Harry's study?" asked Teddy in a controlled voice. Everyone took a step back. They knew that voice. It was the one he used just before shouting, a skill he seemed to have picked up after years of living with Ginny.

"Um... maybe?" answered James in a small voice. Everyone shook their heads. James would never grow up.

"James, Harry tells us not to go in there for a reason. He keeps many dangerous artefacts in there. Now, I'm only going to say this once. HAND. IT. OVER." command Teddy, his hair as red as his face. James only shrugged before tossing it.

"James no!" screamed Lily but it was too late. The object smashed on the table, scattering midnight-blue dust everywhere. For a while nothing happened, the kids stood, shaken from the loud crash. Then all of a sudden, seemingly in slow motion, the dust began to swirl. It branched into tentacles, moving towards each of them. Their hands disappeared first, followed by their upper body then their legs. A single layer of dust settled on the floor and all as quiet again. No sign that anything had happened except for the blue dust on the floor and the small green object that lay broken at the foot of the table.
