Months and months have passed ever since those two days, and somehow, I'm still alive.

Even though Ay got me out of my apartment all those months ago, as soon as she stopped coming over practically every day, I went back to my old ways. I do go on my balcony occasionally, though. "Progress!", as my cousin says.

One afternoon, I was sitting on the couch, eating a sandwich, and watching a show on my TV when I heard a knock on the door.

Putting my sandwich down onto my plate, I got up and opened the door to see Ayelet standing there, excitedly.

"Hey, need something?" I asked.

"I don't exactly need something, per se, but I did get something for you!"

I invited her in, and she was walking on clouds as she walked over to the couch and sat down.

Sitting next to her, I paused the show and continued to eat. "What did you get?"

"Well..." she reached down into her purse, and she looked as if she could explode from excitement. Pulling out two strips of paper which looked like tickets for something, she exclaimed, "I got tickets for a musical downtown!!!"

"What musical?" I asked, not having much interest as I took a bite out of my sandwich.

However, that changed as Ayelet said, "The Phantom of the Opera!"

I froze, coughing and spluttering. "...What?" I managed to choke out.

She hit my back, allowing me to cough out the food better. "Sorry," she said, laughing slightly. "But yeah, I got tickets for later tonight."

"WHAT!?" I abruptly stopped coughing and snapped my head towards Ayelet.

"Is there something wrong with that...?"

"No, I just wasn't expecting it to be so soon."

"Well, uh...surprise!"

I chuckled. "Thanks, Ay."

"Yep!"

I put the rest of my sandwich back onto my plate and got up, throwing it into the trash. I lost my appetite after what just happened.

"What time is it starting?"

"The ticket here says 8pm."

"Oh, so that's..." I checked the clock on the wall. It was almost 5pm. "...about 3 hours away."

"And it takes, like, an hour to get there, I believe. Along with traffic, making it an hour and a half,

at least."

"Which gives us an hour and a half left...I'm gonna go get ready."

"You go do that."

It took 30 minutes for me to choose an outfit that felt suitable enough. An hour left.

I walked out of my bedroom, seeing Ayelet kicking her legs up and watching TV.

I walked over to her, sitting down on the couch.

She turned her head towards me. "Woah, you look amazing, Akuji!"

I laughed. "Thanks, you too."
"Aw, thank you."

We stayed like that for a while, just watching the shows that were playing at the moment.

Though, at one point, Ayelet said out of the blue, "Don't you think that it's ironic that you really like Phantom of the Opera?"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"I mean, it's literally about a guy who's willing to kill anyone for the love of his life, and you're absolutely paranoid of death."

I shrugged. "I just like the storyline, and there's more to it than just that, y'know."

"True."

It was then like that for a while, in intervals: watching, talking, watching, talking.

Eventually, the time finally came, and we took off.
