Athena
"Its only the first day and Snape already made me want to punch him in the face." I told Fred. He barely looked at me as I collapsed next to him on the couch of the common room. My time table had been as full as I could get it this year. I had no room for slacking now that I was beginning to look into careers. I took everything I possibly needed to give me a solid shot at the job I wanted. That meant that this year, I was stuck with Snape for another hour of my life each day. Transfiguration, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Potions, Astronomy and Herbology. I had the choice of taking double potions again, but I opted out.
"Don't punch your potions teacher. That wouldn't be good on your record." He pointed out, mindlessly. I scoffed at his lack of attention from him. He was writing down recipes for new candies. Him, George and I had been brainstorming ways to get out of class. Right now it was just vague ideas. I'm sure later on we'd try them out, but for now we didn't have the time or the money.
"I know, doesn't mean I don't want to." I admitted. He put his quill down and looked over at me.
"I don't really get why you gave up working with someone as amazing me to be an Auror." He teased. "We'd be much easier on you." He promised.
"Yeah, don't get my hopes up. There's a good chance I won't become one, so keep that spot open for me." I replied. He gave me a look of confusion.
"What are you talking about? Athena, there's not a 'chance' you'll get the job, It's certain you will become one. Stop doubting yourself." He said, sternly. I let out a laugh. He didn't understand what I thought was funny. "What?"
"D'you not realize who my father is? My godfather? It's never going to happen, Freddie." I said, glaring at the ground. "Sometimes you just have to let dreams be dreams."
"They can't hold that against you!" He exclaimed. "The ministry would be lucky to have you as an Auror." He promised. I didn't want to answer. We'd had this argument before. Fred couldn't see it from my perspective. He didn't understand what it was like to have the family I did. People hold it against you wherever you go.
"Athena become an Auror? I'd like to see that!" A laugh came from behind us. Fred and I felt the same anger bubble inside of us. It was okay when we joked about it, but not when anyone else did. We turned, but soon realized it was just Harry.
"Listen here you arse," I smiled. "That was awfully rude. Not very funny at all." I told him. He shrugged it off.
"Oh well. You love me." A grin erupted on his face when I flipped him off.
"Hey that's my line!" Fred exclaimed, but we ignored him. That furthered his annoyance as he went back to his writing.
"On occasion, Potter." I played along.
"What did Remus have to say about you wanting to be an Auror?" He questioned, all tone of joking gone now.
"He may not know yet." I smiled.
"You better tell him!" He said incredulously. "He'd be so proud of you!" I waved it off, not wanting to think about him.
"I should make him wait another year." I stated, still angry for what he and my father had done this summer. I told everyone after Molly brought up my OWL results the day they got back. Fred and George thought it was hilarious. Harry and Ron had to stifle a giggle. Hermione was the only one that understood why I was so upset.
"Oh you can't stay mad at him forever!" Hermione chimed in. I jumped in surprise when she spoke, because I had no idea she was there. It also took me off guard that it was her that said it. I expected support from her.
