It could have been the lack of sleep, or maybe the pain medicine, but Papyrus had never felt more proud of his work.
He'd finally completed his song, and after countless drafts and practice, he'd finally done it. His checklist of things had also changed significantly, with only two things left to do:
□Disguise
□Audition
The disguise wasn't mandatory, but Papyrus knew he couldn't say what he wanted to as himself. At least, not without some opinions of him changing. So, he searched the depths of every closet in his house until he found something to work in the meantime.
A black cloak hed found washed up by the river one time, some black boots too big for Undyne, and a mask Sans used to scare him one time. It wasn't pretty persay, but it was unique. He would stand out, and Papyrus was already used to that.
With the second to last thing checked, all he had to do was show up. Which, when only an unchecked box, was a lot easier said than done.
He entered the large building quietly, receiving a few puzzled stares on the way to the desk where a small lizard woman sat. Alphys, as he quickly recognized, the familiarity making things a little easier.
"Excuse me, I'm here for the audition," He kept his voice low and quiet as he spoke.
Just in case one of his many fans recognized him, of course.
She seemed to snap out of her thoughts when he spoke, staring at him for a moment before responding.
"D-do you have a reservation?" She didn't take her eyes off of him, perhaps out of fear, or maybe curiosity.
"I do, yes! It's in about.. half an hour?" He answered, fidgeting with the dark gloves he was wearing.
She entered a few things into the bulky computer in front of her before turning back to him.
"..'Cool dude'?"
Papyrus realized he'd forgotten to change his username, but he had many other things to worry about at that moment.
"Yes, that is me," he replied, fiddling with the inside of his cloak.
"Well yo-you've got some time, so I suggest getting ready i-in one of the stage rooms down that hall," She spun in her chair to point to a large double door, pointing with a neatly clipped claw.
"Go-Good luck!" She smiled, and though he tried to smile back, the mask made it so he stared for a moment before walking off. Not his best moment, but he had more important things to focus on.
Once he walked on stage was when he realized the cloak was a tad uncomfortable, obviously not made for a tall skeleton, but his thoughts were suddenly directed to the bright lights hitting his eye sockets as the curtains raised. The eye holes weren't massive, but they were enough to see the stage, taking his place as cameras focused on him.
The crowd stared at the tall stranger, murmuring at the look of the mystery monster. The last act was still fresh in the air, mediocre and low energy, it was still one of the better ones to play that day.
Papyrus couldn't see well through the light, but part of him knew that was a good thing, as he couldn't see his star staring at his every move.
