We headed down stair when we had all our stuff together. When we got to the leaving room I saw all the boys playing FIFA on the Xbox. We were almost out the door when I heard "Whoa whoa whoa , you are not leaving. Mom said no going out after 8, and I don't want to get in trouble." I turned to Luke standing up and pausing the game.
"She'll never know if you don't tell her, and you don't want to get in trouble right?"I questioned him. He was always a momma's boy. We walked out the house before he could think of a reply.
We finally got to the party around 9'o clock because unlike the cool kids we don't like to be fashionably late. Plus you get all the good drinks first. Tonight Adam is playing with his band and we are supposedly 'together' again.
Eve, Cassie and I make our way to the liquor first. They both take Mike's Hard Lemonade and I take a cream soda and pour it in to a red plastic cup. Got to keep up the image, right?
"How is Adam, Lyla?" Cassie asked me with a knowing grin. Everyone around us were listening for my answer. We were always the most dramatic couple, so people tend to keep tabs. " Together...at least for now." I said loud enough for them to hear. This is going to be a fun night.
Us girls made our way to the dance floor and started heading to the front where the stage is set up. we had been dancing for a good solid fifteen minutes when Adam made his way to me. He looked stressed. "Lyla, come with me I need help." he whispered in my ear when he got close enough. I followed him off the floor and out to the back patio where the rest of his band was waiting, well all except the lead guitarist Leady.
"What's going on what happened?" I asked looking at all of them. I knew something was wrong because they all had that sad pitiful look in their eyes, like they found out Santa isn't real. "Leady quit the band." Sami said, she was the drummer. I hate to say it but I knew it was going to happen eventually. Leady was always late and never took anything serious like learning the material or coming to the gigs. He always made me mad, because I would have to end up telling the managers they couldn't perform since I was the unofficial manager for the time being. "Wait seriously? Why? "I asked outraged.
"He said he didn't get enough attention and that it was a waste since we weren't going anywhere fast enough." Sami said obviously fuming. "Now we have nobody to play so we can't go on. I knew we should've had a back up plan."
"Wellll, maybe... possibly... do you think your brother could do it?" Ralphie said. He's the bassist. He is also about to killed for even suggesting it.
"Absolutely not. Besides he is at home playing FIFA." I rattled off quickly. "Then who is that?" Ralphie said pointing inside the house behind me. I looked back and sure enough there he was with Calum, Michael, and Ashton.
"That is a dead man. " I stated simply."He can't do it. Neither can Calum or Michael. Or Ashton. If I have to, I will." I stated matter of factly. I knew all the material and I was not about to have my world tainted once again by my Luke or his stupid friends.
"How about we ask him just in case." said Sami. "Really? Come on he doesn't know any of it and I do." I pleaded I wasn't about to let them give up or worse ask Luke." Then there is no harm in asking." said Ralphie starting to walk in. We all followed with our eyes as he walked in and up to him. He motioned towards us and Luke looked over and we all looked away. He started talking back and nodded his head. I hope he was nodding yes that I was right and not that he could do it.
Luke and Ralphie walked back outside. "He said he would do it." Ralphie said smiling. Everyone looked at me. I was not going to let this happen without a fight.
"He doesn't know the material." I argued. "I do. I've been listening to them on YouTube. I think I can do it." he said smirking.
"Yeah you could but it would be terrible and I think it would be better for them not to go on or I play for them." I said straightening up.
"How could you do that when you for one, have stage fright and two can't play guitar that well." he said grinning cockily. He missed the fact that I started playing more after he left, and I am totally over the whole stage fright.
"You have been gone a long time Luke, your sister is a whole different person now." said Adam putting his arm around me. I looked up at him and smiled, I knew he would always be there for me even when we were 'fighting'.
"Whoa, are you two dating?" Luke said straightening up and pointing a us. Well he caught on fast. "Yes we are. For over a year off and on." I said grinning. I guess he didn't notice that in their YouTube videos he watched.
"What? Why didn't you tell me? I deserve to know this type of stuff." he said getting mad. Did he really just say that. He has not been here for me so he doesn't deserve to hear what has been happening in my life. One thing I know for sure is that I am not going to let him win and see me flustered.
"It's not a big deal. Anyways I think I can do it, no scratch that I know I can do it."I said leaving Adam's arm and walking out in front of all of them. I am not a scared little girl anymore, I can go onstage and not have a problem. Just because I haven't done it before doesn't mean I can't, come on I play my whole love life out in front of hundreds of people at my school. I don't think playing guitar will be any different. Right?
"Lyla, you don't have the experience I can do it. It's differnet than playing in you room when you were 10. Just let me-" I interrupted him. "Let them choose come on lets let them vote."
"Fine let's do it. Adam want to go first?" Luke asked
"Lyla."Adam said grinning at me.
"Luke." said Ralphie.
All down to Sami.
