I was being mentored by none other than Professor Severus Snape. Someone who I should despise but find rather interesting. There was something mysterious about the professor of Potions.
Snape was actually quite impressed by my ability to use a wand for the first time. "Impressive, Mikaelson. You have been able to achieve high-level spells with no difficulty whatsoever. I'd like to see you perform a Patronus charm." He stated. "Patronus charm?" I asked raising a brow. "Do you not know what that is, Mr. Mikaelson?" He questioned. "Well, if I did. I wouldn't be so confused at the moment. But to answer question, respectfully, no sir, I do not know this particular charm. This is the first I'm hearing of it." I answered.
"Hmm. Well, a Patronus charm is something extremely powerful against Dark Arts. One must think of a particularly happy memory. One so cheerful they can produce such a charm. To form a creature of pure light to protect you or others from severe harm." Snape explained. "Watch me." He said before pulling out his wand. "Expecto Patronum." He voiced before a white light came out of the wand before transforming into a doe. It was beautiful. "Beautiful." I said admiring the Patronus.
"A memory?" I sounded. "What if I don't particularly have any happy memories?" I asked lowering my eyes to the floor. "Are you so miserable with your life that you cannot produce one single happy memory?" Snape asked. "If you experienced a life like mine, you'd understand that I find it quite impossible." I voiced coldly. "Watch. Your. Tone." Snape warned. "Sorry, Professor." I said.
I let out a sigh. "Think, Mikaelson." He said in a monotone voice. I closed my eyes. "Search your mind. Find a memory that brings a smile." He instructed. I furrowed my brows trying to find one.
"I'm gonna find you, mister." A familiar voice said. I hid beneath the desk in the upstairs den and smiled. I heard soft footsteps. "There you are! Oh, guess you're not behind the curtains." A woman stated. A shadow was cast upon a nearby wall. "Hmm...I wonder where he could be, he couldn't possibly be under the desk, could he? Aha!" A woman said before revealing herself from above.
I let out a shriek before starting to laugh. "Come here, my little mischief maker." She said before coming around and pulling me out from under the desk. Kissing my cheek as she held me in her arms with a beautiful smile. I squealed with laughter. "Mom!" I said as she tickled beneath my underarms.
I opened my arms before holding my wand up. "Expecto Patronum." I stated before watching light come out of my wand. The light began to transform into an animal. I watched and watched before the creature became recognizable.
It was a wolf. White as snow, as large as a great dane, and as fierce as my father. "A wolf is a very powerful Patronus, Mr. Mikaelson. One created by one who values the protection of their loved ones rather than themselves. You must be rather protective of the people you care about, aren't you, Mikaelson." Snape explained. "It runs in the family." I answered. "Go...you need to prepare for the tournament." Snape stated. I nodded my head.
I went to leave before I had a question. "Professor, may I ask you a question?" I voiced. "I believe you already have." He pointed out before looking at me, as if to continue. "What does your Patronus charm mean?" I asked. I noticed his lips tightened. "My apologies, Professor. I didn't mean to pry into your personal information. You don't have to answer." I stated. "It means I as well, protect the people that I care about, Mr. Mikaelson." He answered before leaving.
"I wonder why they say he's a terrible person, he seemed nice to me." I whispered.
Remind you of someone? Nogi voiced in my head.
