Hushed tones and whispers could be heard in the room where Jungkook lay.

Taehyung's family was present with Namjoon, discussing Jungkook's situation. According to the database they had, Jungkook attended school, but the address listed was no longer valid as it had been demolished for a new building, leaving them unable to ask anyone who might know him. He had been in the system alongside his father for only 14 years before vanishing completely.

This raised many questions. They couldn't inquire at his previous school, as he had already graduated, and the police had no missing persons report for anyone named Jeon. Nothing was connecting, so they decided to wait for Jungkook to share his story. After a while, everyone left, and it was now 5 p.m. Sunset filtered through the blinds, casting a beautiful glow, but it was directly in Jungkook's face. Taehyung moved to close the blinds but was stopped by a voice.

“Don't, Hyung. Please open it so I can see the sun more,” Jungkook requested for the first time, his words surprisingly steady despite his grogginess.

Taehyung obliged and observed as the younger's eyes welled with tears upon seeing the sun.

“You know, Hyung, it's been a while since I saw the sun. All I could see in that hell were closed walls, and the only light came from a bulb. You have no idea how much I missed this,” Jungkook’s voice wavered, and he cried—a release from the years of suffering.

The man watching him felt the weight of Jungkook's pain, so he moved to the end of the bed, sitting there and offering quiet comfort through sympathetic glances.

He let the younger boy cry, knowing this was part of his healing process.

“I heard you guys talking about me earlier. I was awake for a few minutes but fell asleep again. That’s probably your parents, right? I'm thankful you have them, Hyung, and you love them. I like you for that.” Taehyung froze at the first sentence but let out a sigh after muttering an apology.

“Don’t be sorry. I know everything is weird for you. I feel like an alien who showed up out of the blue,” Jungkook chuckled, scrunching his nose.

“You're too pretty to be an alien, though.” Taehyung grew embarrassed by his own words. ‘What the hell am I thinking? Blurting that out won’t help!’ he scolded himself internally as Jungkook gasped in surprise, a cute 'oh' escaping his lips while a solemn expression overtook his face.

“You still think I’m pretty, Hyung? Even seeing me like this? With this body and appearance?” His tone dropped, filled with despair—like someone who had given up.

Taehyung moved closer, offering to hold Jungkook's hand. The boy hesitated before carefully placing his small, soft hand in Taehyung's larger one.

“I may not know what you’ve gone through, but I'm here for you. Being beautiful or pretty doesn’t solely mean having a pleasing face or good body. You're beautiful because I see you—not just your appearance. It's pretty how you still smile with that beautiful face. Your voice is sweet. You are the definition of pretty to me, so don’t think of yourself any less. I’m not a pervert or anything; I’m just stating facts.” Jungkook giggled at the mention of “pervert.”

“Enough trolling, Hyung. Based on the time, after you learn about me, I guess it’s time to—”

“It’s okay! We’re not rushing you, Jungkook!” Taehyung panicked, and this time, Jungkook laughed.

“Hyung, as I know, you’re the one who hit me with the car, right? It doesn’t hurt or anything; it's more like I leaned on the car and then fainted. I wasn’t hurt because of it, but you were kind enough to bring me to the hospital, and now you're taking care of me. The least I can do is tell you how everything started. And before you say anything, I’m okay. I’ll be okay. You're here. Please hold me carefully if I start to shake, okay?” Taehyung felt pride swell in his heart at Jungkook's forthrightness, even as worry crept in.

“I’m here, I’ll hold you. Don’t be mad if I decide to stop you; go on slowly, don’t rush.”

Both took deep breaths as Jungkook began to share his story.

“My Papa... he was like me, or I was like him—a fertile man, to be exact. He was scared that people would bully me for being born from a male, so I started school a little late and graduated late because of that. Papa... he—” A tear escaped his eye as he recalled his father’s sacrifices. Taehyung gently stroked his hands, providing comfort.

“He sacrificed so much for me, and I will never forget that. Due to being a fertile man, he couldn’t work properly because of the stigma. One day, coming home from work at a construction site, he overheard his co-workers speaking badly about him being fertile. He heard them telling the government about him and hurried home, where he found me playing. It was summer, so there was no school. I was just at our old, dilapidated house waiting for him when he urged me to leave. We ran, leaving everything behind, but we still failed. They took us, kidnapped us, and trapped us in a place where we couldn’t go outside or see the sun. It was worse than anything a prisoner could experience.” He cried as he continued.

“They injected something into both of us and tied us to the bed. Papa screamed for them to let me go, but it was like they were deaf. I cried with him because it hurt. I woke up in agony, with an injury and stitches in my lower torso. It felt like they had opened me up to discuss whether I was fertile or not. After that, they made me a cleaner at a place they called a facility. I saw my father bear children every year from when I was fourteen until now. When I left him, he was pregnant—his stomach larger than mine. They called it a breeding facility, where they turned us into baby makers. Everything was connected to the government; they had clients and such. It was hell there, Hyung—total hell.” Both were crying now. Taehyung couldn’t fathom how difficult Jungkook's experiences had been, and his heart ached for him. Without thinking, he embraced the younger boy, who surprisingly didn’t flinch and allowed himself to be held, continuing his story.

“They found out months ago that I was fertile when I bled for the first time; I was a late bloomer, and being malnourished didn’t help. They forced me to take injections, resulting in a pregnancy from which I had no control, a child I didn’t want to be born into this cruel world. We had an opportunity two months ago. My father didn’t want me to suffer more. They held an auction for breeders—politicians were involved because they lacked men. I don’t know how it happened, but we escaped. My Papa and I managed to get past the gate. He was also pregnant at the time, with a belly larger than mine, so he couldn’t crawl through the hole we made. When I reached the surface, I could hear many sounds iof animals n the room and through a door that wasn’t closed. It hurt to leave him, but he sacrificed his life once more.”

While crying, Taehyung was just there to comfort Jungkook as his sobs continued.

“He told me to find the real meaning of love, peace, and hope. I hoped that someone would save me, take me far from there. But I thought differently when I saw your car; I wanted everything to end at that moment. But you did the opposite. You saved me and gave me hope. Thank you for making my hope come true, for being my hope.”

This time, it was Jungkook who hugged him tightly—so tightly. Tears flowed like waterfalls, a symbol of releasing the pain with his tears. He began to let go, eventually falling asleep in Taehyung’s arms.

Taehyung looked down at the younger boy, feeling a mix of emotions he couldn’t quite understand. It had only been two days since he met Jungkook, yet the urge to protect and provide for him was overwhelming. He knew he would find the answers for Jungkook.

He pressed a kiss to the top of Jungkook's head and gently placed him back on the bed, ensuring he could sleep comfortably. Walking out of the room, he ordered one of his trusted men to keep watch, not allowing anyone inside unless it was family. He needed to clear his mind and prepare for the search ahead.

“Sounds of different animals. It could be a pet store or a vet. Either way, I'll start from there, so just wait, Jungkook. We got this.”
