Hidden Enemies (ep 3-4):

During a ramen lunch break, Penny comes to join them and is introduced to Team JNPR. She admires how Nora and Ren are very close, but not that close. Nora starts to tell the story of how they met. Nora began as a wandering lost and confused orphan with nothing but her Semblance to keep herself safe. She wondered into Ren's home village and ran into him, which in Nora's head may have been a fateful encounter. Telling him she was homeless, Ren offers her to come live with him and his family, giving her a wooden hammer as a gift, which explains her weapon of choice. And that's where he got his first boop. Overtime, they began to see how indestructible and energetic she was, counting her love for pancakes and her Semblance, High Voltage. Rather then living like adoptive siblings, they lived as roommates. Then when they came of age, here they are at Beacon. Ren remembers all the times Nora gave him "special training", but in reality it was when she wanted to play. And because of how extreme Nora is, the "training" paid off. Ren asks Nora if she remembers the one time she tried to break his legs so he couldn't get away. She says she was just kidding because she would never do that. Yang questions how he's still alive.

Later, Ruby and Yang were excited to see their uncle Qrow. Grabbing his arm, Ruby asked if he missed her. He responds with a sarcastic "nope", and Ruby drops from him when Yang unintentionally tackles Qrow to the ground. After Ironwood breaks Qrow and Winter up, Penny asks if that's what people call a "sissy fight". She also reveals she considers the general her father because he took part in her creation. Winter just tells Qrow to shut up, and he responds he'll make her shut up if she might moan a little, which leads to Winter, Ironwood, Weiss and Yang just going silent and Ruby and Penny confused.

During a meeting after Qrow and Winter's brawl, Ozpin knew someone out there is after him, recalling an incident with Amber. Qrow remembers seeing things they would call fear, referring to Cinder herself. Ironwood wonders if they are after any more important people, like him or the other headmasters. Later, he, Glynda, Ironwood and Qrow conversate with Amber about what happened when she was making her way to Beacon. This reveals secrets only a group of people know about. Amber recounts the day Cinder attacked her. She was traveling on horseback, when Emerald made an hallucination which gives her, Mercury and Cinder a chance to catch her off guard. She remembers they wanted something to do with Ozpin. As the battle went on, her Aura started to run out and she was almost defeated and shot with an arrow. However, a "rotten bird" grabs it and flies away. So to improvise, Mercury just kicks her and Cinder's lackies retrain her as she is about to kill her. But she fails when Qrow comes in, revealing himself to be that "rotten bird". As the 3 escape, he goes to check on Amber, who was barely conscious. Ozpin knew what they wanted, but none were the mastermind. "She" is, which sends shivers down everyone, besides Glynda's, spine. Later, Winter shows enthusiasm for Weiss and cheers for her sister, until Ironwood turns around asking if everything's ok. She just says she sneezed, but Penny knew.

What no one knew was Cinder and her henchmen hiding in the shadows. Because Cinder had put a virus into Vale's CCTS's system, she can now gain access to Ironwood's Scroll that interfaces with the Beacon Network. This is her way to cause so much negative emotion in the matches, it will easily attract enough Grimm to destroy the school, calling it the Fall of Beacon. Mercury asks if this is really worth just killing one person, saying they should just quickly kill him and leave. But Emerald tells him Cinder knows what she's doing. Meanwhile, Neo breaks Roman out of imprisonment and Winter stays for the tournament cheering for Weiss, going out of her demeaning character for a few seconds. Cinder begins to engineer the next Vytal match where Emerald and Mercury will face Coco and Yatsu. However, because Cinder hacked the system and Emerald has Hallucinations, a Semblance to create illusions, they almost win. However, when it looked like Emerald and Mercury got the upper hand, Yatsu comes out from behind and knocks them both out, ending the match. Even if that didn't work, she doesn't give up because her "mistress" gave her an order. She soon gains access to Penny's blueprints, making their plan easier.
