Exams (Vol5 Short):

Ruby roams Emerald Forest, until a horde of grimm attack. Removing her hood, she fends them all off. However, she is soon overpowered when larger species of grimm appear. But they were in for a surprise when Weiss appears using her Glyphs to reduce their numbers. As she helps her teammate up, Blake appears from the darkness and slays a whole bunch of flying grimm. One was going to attack from behind, until Yang punches it into a tree, causing it to fall and squash another grimm. Team RWBY all work together to kill the remaining beasts, ending with their Whiterose and Bumblebee attacks. When it was over, they wonder what the other teams are up to, seeing JNPR, SSSN and CFVY do team attacks of their own from afar. They hear an exploding-like sound which was supposedly Nora. This reveals they are in one of their exams before their summer break from Beacon.

Still Roomies (Vol5 ep ___):

As team RWBY's class progress through their exams, they were discussing about what they should do over the break. And Weiss realises Ruby's grown about half a foot and she's still short. A lot of them already have good plans. Team JNPR were going to visit each other's families, and maybe Jaune could get his weapons upgraded, Penny will stay at Beacon to patrol the grounds like a night guard instead of returning to Atlas, Oscar remains as well to soon become the next headmaster and SSSN and CFVY just see where the world takes them. However, team RWBY themselves didn't know what to do. This is where Penny reveals the general was involved in her creation, which sort of makes him her father as well as a genius inventor. So she's got 2 dads.

Ruby and Yang were excited to go home, but Weiss and Blake were uneasy about leaving Beacon. Like a few times before in the year, Weiss has flashbacks of events and nightmares of her family and nightmare of a household. She even recounts how she got that scar on her face. Ruby was always the one to snap her out of it and Weiss has already told her teammates about her problems, which sounded like warnings to them, which she will be going back to sooner or later. Ruby knew she definitely needs a better father figure who is not a monster, like hers and Yang's, or Blake's or Ironwood, although she hasn't even met Blake's dad.

Yang asks Blake if she has a home or family. Blake hesitantly responds she does. She comes from Menagerie, the continent where the Faunus originated. But she isn't sure about going there following an incident years ago. Before she knew it, she shared something she never thought she would share and begs Yang to tell anyone. She tells Yang the story of how she just left her parents at a young age. Her father is the former leader of the White Fang, but he and her mother refused to stand up or fight back when the violent phase started, leading to Sienna, who was an old friend of theirs, to take over. Even if she was young, Blake called them both out calling them cowards and stormed out. And that was the very last time she saw of them. These reasons are why she's still wearing her ribbon, even if she used it to cover Yang's cut wound. So in other words, Blake has nowhere to go now that she's left the White Fang and Adam is dead. She could go to Menagerie, but the incident with her family personally prevents her from going back. And going back may mean putting them in danger because of Ilia, but she doesn't tell Yang that. Yang asks how old she was, and Blake responds she was probably 6 or 7 at the time, which only made Yang sympathise further. She's had it rough at a young age as much as Weiss.

Feeling sorry for their friends, the sisters get an idea on how to fix this. Upon finishing their tasks, the students begin their plans. To the other teachers' surprise, Glynda cries as they leave, because it almost feels like they're graduating already. Ruby and Yang share their solution to their teammates. They offer their friends to stay with them, Tai and Zwei in Patch. They can settle right in. Weiss remembers about what Winter had told her about either relying on her father for financial support or following her own path to find who she can be in this world. With that, she declares she has made her choice. So Yang calls her dad that they have houseguests and Weiss calls Winter about something important. Tai was kind enough to let them stay. And just as they thought, Blake went for the books. So they end up staying there for a while. This was an opportunity for Weiss. She found it comfortable, because she could experience a better household with a better father and even a pet. She even learns how to cook, clean up and sow, which she was terrible at beforehand. Even though Blake was a little concerned, people like them didn't mind Faunus. Finding comfort, she realised she has found people who have accepted her for who and what she is, throwing away her ribbon. But she was still uneasy about Zwei. Weiss and Blake share their problems and trauma with Tai, with a bit of waterworks, who could understand very much. Tai hugs Blake as she sobbed and her ears dropped and Yang considered punching Jacques in the face. Weiss felt comfort in Tai, feeling like he's the father she desired but never got.
