"ARGH!" I yelled, spitting out wet sand. I fell, face first, into the shallow part of the ocean. Both of the lenses in my glasses were cracked, one of them more damaged than the other. I needed to replace them, I had others at home...

While trying to get up and leave the beach, I tried to use my legs to support myself, but oddly...

They weren't there.

"What the heck-"

Where my legs used to be, there was a long, golden tail. I was... a mermaid? I still had my shirt on, but my shorts were on the other side of the beach.

I wasn't getting those as a mermaid.

After sitting on the beach, half-buried in the sand, for about thirty minutes, I felt my legs again... I just needed something to cover them up.

Much better, I thought, after putting my shorts back on. Hopefully nobody saw me running across the beach without pants... oh well. It was finally time to go home. It's been an hour, anyway.

I tried to leave, but I couldn't. The voice came back, this time stronger.

Go to the water, Ryan.

It's your destiny.

I knew that would turn me into a mermaid again, but I gave in to the calling and entered the water. It felt... good. Until I fell again.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to live with the awkward falling entry. Being a mermaid that turns on and off every time you enter the water is tough. And showering, even worse. Guess I'll have to pull a Jack and not shower for a week.

I swam into some of the deeper parts of the ocean. I started to get the hang of it. It was kind of fun, actually. My tail waving up and down, the fish swimming around me.

Until something... strange happened.

I was pushed into a rock. I heard... voices? And then I was dragged down.

Down, down, down.

The last thing I could hear was "We got him. Now we wait," before everything faded into darkness...
