It was decided that Kayden would stay with Laxus... because of circumstances, and also because Laxus is one of the strongest beside Gildarts.
The only one who might have a chance against Kayden in a fight is Laxus because he can devour electricity. But no one knows the true potential of Kayden.
Hence certain guild members are forcing Kayden to go on a job. But of course, Kayden refused as usual.
People have stopped treating him badly and Kayden slowly started to get along well with everyone. However he still avoids possible contacts with Lucy.
The thought of how much he is liking this guild terrifies Kayden as he is sure that he'll be forced to leave them one day.
Not because they'll abandon him, but because of his popularity. Kayden genuinely hoped that such situation would never come.
(But you know me... I crush everyone's hopes😏)
"Hey Laxus..." Elfman called the blonde man sitting on a stool talking to Mirajane.
Both Mira and Laxus looked at Elfman.
"You live with Kayden, don't you? We've been asking him to go on jobs but he refused us. Why don't you ask him to take on a job like a real man? That guy seems to respect you a lot." Elfman pointed towards Kayden who was eating his bread in peace.
Elfman is right. Kayden maybe an asshole but he seems to have a great deal of respect for Laxus. We're not sure if it's because Laxus's presence basically screams power and elegance, or because Laxus doesn't fear Kayden and is cool with Kayden living with him. The reason remains as a mystery until Kayden reveals it.
Kayden avoided the familiar feeling of deja vu and continued eating his bread. He's been getting this continuous feeling of impending doom since he stepped into this guild to the point where Kayden began to be on guard when the feeling doesn't come.
'Oh my holy Zeref! What is this guild doing to me?'
"I don't know..." Laxus looked at Mira.
"Let's give him time until he feels ready to take a job..." Mira smiled.
"But..." Elfman started.
"Laxus... please ask him to take on job. He's a Fairy tail member now." Cana came forward.
Soon people who wants to see Kayden's power came forward, trying to coax Laxus into talking to Kayden.
"I don't feel so good...may be I ate too much?" Kayden mumbled.
"Alright, alright. I'll talk to him. So be quite now." Laxus sighed tiredly.
The crowd cheered.
The day passes with tables and chairs thrown around, drunk people and flames and icicles flying through the air.
Kayden is walking back to the house with Laxus and Thunder Legion.
Thunder Legion moved in triangle formation with Laxus and Kayden in the middle.
Freed, who was walking in the front kept glancing back and Evergreen and Bickslow kept their eyes on Kayden too.
Kayden is used to walking in silence, but this trio is making it more awkward that what is needed.
Kayden asked. "Do we really need to do this every time we walk?" Kayden asked, mentioning the weird escort service.
"Heh, we're not taking any chances." Freed chuckled.
"We will protect Laxus with our lives." Evergreen stated and Bickslow nodded.
"But, why does a strong guy like Laxus need an escort?" Kayden asked genuinely curious.
The trio was silent for a second and screamed, "SHUT UP!!". Kayden shrugged with a smirk.
"You're being too loud. Quiet down." Laxus groaned.
The king has spoken. Everyone was silent from then on.
We don't know what happened at Laxus's house that night, but next day, the whole Fairy tail members watched with sparkling eyes as Laxus and Kayden stood in front of job board.
"How about this?" Laxus asked picking out a job request from the board.
Kayden spared a side glance. A job about retrieving treasure from three strongest thieves.
"Too easy." Kayden said.
"Heh!" Laxus smirked and decided to do the job.
"Good luck on your job kids." Makarov said. "Natsu will accompany you as well."
"Hell yeah. I'm coming with you two." Natsu cheered.
Laxus just shook his head. "Let's go. We'll take on one thief each."

It would have been way too easy for the three strongest wizards to defeat the thieves like Kayden said, if not for Kayden being held back by Laxus and Natsu from going on a killing spree.
Everyone was okay with Laxus's plan, but everything fell apart when the three brave souls decided to insult Fairy tail.
Before Natsu could retort or Laxus could blink, Kayden had already went ahead and killed two thieves.
He was going for the third one, but Laxus and Natsu managed to hold him down. "Our job is to defeat them, not to kill them." Laxus and Natsu tried to reason with Kayden, but...
"I'll kill you. I'll shoot electricity straight through your heart..." Kayden proceeded to yell at the third thief who looked like a white sheet, ignoring his two teammates.
After a few moments of struggle, Kayden calmed down a little.
The issue was resolved by an apology from the thief and surrendering of the stolen treasure.
Kayden stood tall and proud, nodding satisfied while Natsu and Laxus sighed tiredly, already wanting to go back.
After returning the treasure to the client, the trio returned to the guild, not knowing what is waiting for them back at the guild.
