The entrance exploded and silhouettes of people appeared. Debris flew everywhere.
Out of instinct, Kayden picked up Lucy in bridal style and jumped back.
"Are you alright!?" Kayden asked unconsciously, only to freeze, thinking what he just did.
Lucy smiled at Kayden's confusion. She knew Kayden was someone who knows how to care for others.
On the other hand, Kayden was racking up his brain for the reason why he just saved the girl.
He tortured her, raped her ten times, degraded her, and even tried to kill her. So why... just now...did he try to save her?
Is it because she showed a bit of kindness he haven't experienced since Kartein abandoned him?
Kayden shook his head to clear that thought. There's just no way that could be the reason. He is the great Kayden Break, strongest of the strongest. He doesn't need anyone caring for him.
Kayden stood up with Lucy still in his arms. Casein Nitrate, who was watching everything from afar, came flying towards Kayden.
"Kayden, are you alright?" The exceed asked.
Kayden just nodded and narrowed his eyes at the entrance.
"Lucy!" Someone shouted.
"So they did come, after all." Kayden mumbled and Lucy smirked.
As the dust started settling, Natsu, Gray, Wendy and Erza entered the building.
They widened their eyes seeing Lucy's condition.
Kayden looked at Natsu, and a feeling of nostalgia hit him, making him more confused.
These fairies are confusing the hell out of me...
Kayden slowly put Lucy down and stepped back.
Team Natsu ran towards Lucy and knelt down surrounding her. They gritted their teeth, almost guessing what might have happened while they were absent.
"Tell me Lucy, did that bastard Kayden do this to you?" Natsu asked rather passively, taking Lucy into his protective, strong arms.
You know, a man can become dangerous if he finds out his crush had been raped.
Lucy looked away and Natsu frowned. He held Lucy close to his chest.
"Natsu..." Lucy called weakly. "Can I ask a favor of you?"
That caught everyone's attention. "What is it?" Natsu asked.
"That boy standing there is Kayden. But please don't hurt Kayden. He may look like a villain but he's just a boy who's hurting inside." Lucy begged.
Natsu widened his eyes. "What do you mean Lucy? He hurt you badly but you still wanna forgive him?"
Lucy grabbed his arm and squeezed lightly. "Please Natsu. I'll tell you why later. Just knock him out but don't hurt him too badly."
Natsu's frown deepened for a second, but softened after looking at the boy standing a few metres away from them as if giving them privacy.
Natsu looked back at Lucy. "Lucy, was Kayden crying?" Everyone looked at him shocked. Natsu's heightened vision has caught the glimpse of tear stains on Kayden's face before he hurriedly wiped them before Natsu could notice it. Lucy smiled and nodded.
"If we give him a chance, he might become our friend." Lucy said. "I have a plan."
Lucy explained the plan and everyone agreed to give Kayden a chance.
After all, Fairy tail never abandons someone who's hurting badly inside.
Natsu laid Lucy on the ground gently and gave her his scarf to hold on to. He then stood up followed by Erza, Wendy and Gray.
Kayden smirked. "Done with your emotional reunion? If you were a second late, she would have died by my hands."
Natsu smirked. "So you are the infamous Kayden Break. I thought you would be someone older. But you look like younger than all of us. I hope you are ready to suffer cause you hurt our friend."
"You bet I am!" Electricity crackled around Kayden. "Stay back, Casein."
The next second, he moved fast and knocked out Wendy, Erza and Gray before they could attack.
But Natsu dodged Kayden.
"Eh? You dodged them? Why?" Kayden put on a insane look and smiled.
"Because I wanted to. Tell me. Do you always travel around alone?" Natsu asked.
"Heh...of course I do. I do not need anyone." Kayden said.
"Must be boring, wandering around like a Gypsy. Why not join our guild?" Natsu grinned.
Kayden's face remained unchanged as if something like this have happened many times before. "Why would I want to join the very guild I plan to destroy?"
"Because you look like you're lonely." Natsu said seriously.
Many people have invited him to join them because they wanted to use his powers. But this guild wants to recruit him just because he is lonely?
"You want me to join your guild just because I'm alone? No other reason?" Kayden asked to confirm his doubt.
"We have many strong members. But we won't abandon someone who clearly needs a helping hand." Natsu grinned.
"Not this crap again. You said you want to help me. And once you are done 'helping me', you'll abandon me just like Kartein did." Kayden shouted, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
'So Lucy is right. He is lonely.' Natsu thought.
"Look. I don't know who this Kartein is. But once you join Fairy tail, we will make sure you won't be lonely anymore. I will make sure of it." Natsu said sternly.
Kayden started trembling and his voice wavered. Still, he yelled. "Liars!! You're all lying to me-"
"Regulus Impact!" Kayden was cut off by Loke's attack which pierced through his side and two arrows aimed at both his legs. Kayden fell on his knees, unable to stand with arrows stuck in his knees.
"Somnus!" Wendy used her enchantment magic on Kayden and Casein Nitrate.
Casein immediately passed out.
Kayden tried to fight off the incoming sleep but failed. Soon he too fell limp on the floor, in deep sleep.
Erza and Gray stood up.
"So everything went as planned." Gray smirked.
"Good job Lucy, Wendy and Natsu." Erza complimented with a serious face while others grinned.
Here's what happened.
While Kayden was focused on his conversation with Natsu, Happy and Carla gave Lucy's Zodiac keys back to her.
Once Wendy recovered, the plan was set on motion.
Lucy summoned Loke and Sagittarius to immobilize Kayden and Wendy used enchantment magic to put Kayden and his exceed to deep sleep.
Casein Nitrate, who was also interested in the conversation, didn't notice anything going on behind them.
It was unexpected. After all, no one has ever survived after getting hit by Kayden's spells.
Were the fairies too strong? Or did Kayden go easy on them after his talk with Lucy?
The fact will remain as a mystery as long as Kayden refuses to reveal it.
