Short End of the Stick

I've always been given the short end of the stick.

Always.

No, I don't mean I was literally given a shorter end of a broken stick.

It's an expression, an idiom.

It means to be given the bad end of a deal, or receiving the least desirable outcome from something.

But that's what I've always been given, the short end of the stick.

I seem to always fall for the lies people tell me.

They say they will help me if I do something I really don't want to do.

Friends say they will stick around, but never do.

I've learned that people seem to know only how to lie, cheat and steal to get what they want.

We as humans do not know how to trust.

So we give each other the short end of the stick.
