Iris walked into her last period of the day with Marlene. Iris was very bright and did particularly well in all of her subjects, but she especially loved Transfiguration because she got to see Minnie.
Minerva McGonagall was the head of Gryffindor house and a sweetheart to some. The Marauders loved dear old Minnie and always joked around with her. Being so close with her wasn't a perk when they got in trouble for their pranks though, they seemed to get harsher punishments just because they knew Minnie didn't want to play favorites.
"Did you miss me, Minnie?" Iris grinned as she walked up to the professor who was looking over papers on her desk.
The professor looked over to see the girl wearing a huge grin on her face. Minerva raised her eyebrows as she spoke, "I saw you only yesterday, Miss Potter. Now, you and Miss McKinnon go find your seats please." The two girls turned to find their seats, which left them unable to see the small smile on McGonagall's face.

As class ended, Iris and Marlene grabbed their books and followed the other students out of the classroom.
"Bye Minnie!" Iris called as she waved goodbye to her favorite professor.
"Goodbye Miss Potter and remember your detention with Professor Slughorn! I heard about your disappearance from yesterday's detention, and I wouldn't want to give you any more punishment!" Professor McGonagall called as Iris's smile dropped as the word detention came up.
"You didn't tell me you skipped detention yesterday." Marlene said as she looked offended at her best friend's avoidance on the subject.
Iris grimaced. She had decided that she needed a break from detention after one day, it had been very boring that first day but when Slughorn noticed that the girl was bored out of her mind, he said he had something to take her mind off of the time for next detention. Iris shivered at the thought of doing extra work for Slughorn. She just knew it would be something like filing his million files or something horrendous.
"Well, the skipping didn't work out very well for me. It seems I have some enemies." Iris scrunched up her face at her last sentence. That Lucius Malfoy had seen her in the hall and had told on her to Filch. Grimy Filch of all people!
Filch and Iris had recreated the scene from her first day of classes and boy did Iris run a long way. Eventually Filch ran out of breath and turned back, but that didn't stop him from telling Professor Slughorn.
"Was it that wanker Malfoy?" Marlene asked as she huffed in anger while Iris nodded in affirmation.
"Yep," Iris sighed as she popped the p. "Then, Filch chased me all the way across Hogwarts. I'm bloody sore all over."
"For Merlin's sake Iris! What did Slughorn say about this? Is that why you have to go for two hours today?"
"For some reason he only gave me an extra hour of detention. It might've been worse if I hadn't told him I had a girl emergency, and I didn't have time to stop and explain myself to Filch."
"Iris Fallon Potter! What did he look like when you told him?" By that point Marlene couldn't hold her giggles in, just imagining Iris telling Professor Slughorn about her period made Marlene want to pee her pants.
"His face turned so red, Marls, I almost didn't make it through the conversation without laughing." Iris giggled out as she mimicked Professor Slughorn's shocked and embarrassed face as Marlene started full on laughing.
The two girls walked towards Slughorn's classroom as they continued laughing, not being able to keep it in.
"Ugh, I guess I have to start that work today. I guess I'll see you for dinner at the Great Hall. Bye Marls!" Iris smiled as she sighed and mentally prepared herself for another detention.
