"Please, I can't be alone!" Iris pouted as the rest of the Marauders walked her to her very first detention of the year.
"You'll be fine hooty bear. No one's going to hurt you." Peter snorted as the other boys laughed.
"I'm sure she can handle herself; I think birdy's going to be lonely." Sirius grinned.
"Ugh, you guys are no fun." Iris rolled her eyes as she smiled and said her goodbyes to the boys.
"See you after detention! And remember to meet us in the Great Hall to put our names in the goblet!" Remus called out as James ruffled her hair and headed off with the others.
---------------
Iris was indeed very lonely and bloody bored out of her mind.
It had been an hour and Iris felt like it had been 40 years. A noise startled Iris out of her bored stupor as she noticed the rest of the student's leaving detention. Iris walked out of the classroom and walked towards the Great Hall to meet up with the Marauders.
Iris had grown up around James, Euphemia, and Fleamont. For most of her life at least. They were always loving and caring towards Iris and each other, and Iris felt as though she had been raised well. Despite the mischief that her and her brother made, Iris was kind and despite what others thought, she was very aware of her surroundings. Her biological parents had made sure Iris could never know a moment of peace, forcing her to always be on edge. Being a pureblood was hard, especially when her parents thought their little girl was an abomination when she disagreed with their terrible ways. She was put into foster care at the age of eight, and she was adopted by the Potter's soon after. The Potters changed her view of what a family should be, and how you should never judge someone for their fucking blood.
Not that blood mattered whatsoever, Iris was just aware that she would always receive hatred for being something peoples ignorance labeled as a blood traitor. Thats why, when she saw Bram Abbott, another sixth year, gesturing towards a little first year down the hall, she could only imagine the kinds of things he could've been saying, after seeing the look on the little girl's face.
The girl had her back against the wall, and as Iris got closer, she could hear what Bram was threatening against her, "You know nothing about being an actual witch. How could you? You're a filthy lit-"
Iris had heard enough of whatever Bram was doing. She stormed over to give him a piece of her mind.
"Hold it right there Bram butt!" Iris didn't want to shout any unnecessary profanities in front of the first year. But butt was pretty necessary for the situation. It had been a nickname for Bram since second year, when his pants were just a little too big for him during quidditch practice, "Back up. Now. Or I swear you will never want to wake up again."
Bram though this threat was funny, and said, "You don't realize it's me against you. A filthy whore and her little friend, against me. I hope you and that mudbl-"
Bram was cut short, as Iris slapped him hard and fast against his cheek.
The little girl behind Iris failed to contain her giggles at the shocked expression on his face. Iris turned, winked at her, before returning to Bram and slapped him once again, for good measure.
Bram's shocked face truly was hilarious, the blood rushed to his face, his cheeks so scarlet they were maroon. The aftermath of a slap on each cheek left a burning sting on his cheeks, and water rimming his eyes.
"I'm sorry, you were saying?" Iris asked blinking up at him, as if she hadn't just violently humbled him.
Bram only stuttered incoherent words, and grabbed his face, before turning and running the length of the hallway.
