——The Russian-American duo returned to their dorm, a little nervous and awkward. The walk back was silent, their pace only interrupted by quick glances at each other, which was quickly directed away as soon as each other's eyes met.
"Well… what was that earlier?" America asked, as he unlocked the door to their dormitory. "'is nothing… mistake, my bad," Russia mumbled, lying through his teeth. He wished he could tell America how much he missed their friendship, how much he wished they were still kids, how much he wanted to spend time with him.
"Huh, your method acting goes deep, huh? Hey, you gotta teach me how you do it," America said, nudging Russia's shoulder. Russia remained silent, putting his things down and running a hand through his hair, ruining the styled hair.
"Why so sullen? Cheer up, the audience loved the performance," the American youth chuckled, humming as he walked to his room.
"Боже, Аме, ты идиот, (God, Ame, you idiot)" Russia muttered, frustrated, he tousled his hair, yanking at it and burying his face in his hands. America popped his head out from his room, staring back at Russia down the hallway. "I heard that, you know? Care to explain?"
Russia froze. "Fuck! I forgot you can speak my language. It's just- you're a cocky bastard. I hate you! You're so- argh!"
He pressed a hand to his face, closing his eyes and scrunching up his nose. America watched, arms akimbo. "My, isn't that a change of tone from earlier?"
"No! I mean, yes, but I don't mean- you know what, I can't explain what I just said," Russia sighed, throwing his hands up in the air as an act of exasperation.
"Whatever. Come here," America said, arms open in embrace. "Let me give you a hug. Don't beat yourself up too hard. It wasn't in the script but it sure as hell was a great performance, alright?"
"'Kay," Russia replied, relishing the hug.
"Gay," America teased, smirking.
"You-!"
Russia sprung away. "You conniving capitalist! I am not- I am not a homosexual! You tricked me! That was a trap!"
"'I am not a homosexual!' Yeah, I beg to differ. That kiss felt too real," America rolled his eyes. "Y'know, I am stupid, but I'm not a gigantic idiot."
"No, you are just stupid. You are clearly delusional. Ты идиот (You're an idiot). Get it? You are an idiot. Да (Yes)? Yes? Get it? Ты (You). Идиот (Idiot)," Russia pointed at America, enunciating his words where appropriate, emphasising that his American counterpart is, in fact, an idiot.
"Wow, rude much?" America scowled, squaring up.
"My God, stop trying to pick fights. One day you'll pick a one you can't fight and you're gonna get your dumbass beat up," Russia laughed, pushing him away.
"Okay, but let me just," America straightened up, looking Russia dead in the eyes and smiling. Russia flushed a deep crimson, averting his gaze. Without much thought, America gave Russia a quick peck on his cheek.
"No homo, if you're really as straight as you claim you are. It's all platonic, though. I know you don't like all this, uh, romantic-esque sort of stuff."
The Russian felt his cheeks burn up. Then he grabbed America's shirt roughly, pulling the other closer to him.
"Woah- hey, I didn't mean to offend you-"
