(The last few stories have taken place in "LEGO Dimensions", this one takes place in my series "The Defenders." This is when Marty first declares his love for Hermione.) ~Mlpsgirl.

The sound of it struck him out of his daze, echoing off the walls of the Tardis.

Marty McFly gazed at the entrance to the room, a dull look about him.

It was a scream, Hermione's, to be exact. In fact, it was the third time it'd happened that night. Or was it? He'd lost track.

Never before had he dreaded a noise as much as her screams. He hated it, how distraught she sounded. It made him sick.

Hermione screamed again, causing Marty to get up, quickly running out to her.

"Mione!" He said as he stepped into the room where she was resting, a concerned look on his face.

"You okay?" He asked quietly, his shoulders relaxing.

"Yes. I'm...fine." Her voice was barely a whisper.

Marty walked in further, "You sure?"

No reply.

He went over and sat down next to Hermione.

"What's wrong, Mione?" Marty looked at her gently.

Hermione sighed, her gaze resting on her left arm. A single word grazed it: Mudblood.

She then looked up.

"Marty?" Her voice was quiet.

"Yeah?"

"Do you like me?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, in the sense of my skills as a witch. Do you think I'm good?"

Marty turned to her, "Yeah, Mione. Of course I do."

Hermione looked unsure.

"So...if I wasn't a witch with no magic at all, would you still think good of me Marty?"

Marty furrowed his brow, "Yes. What's gotten into you?"

She quickly averted her gaze, "Oh, never mind. I don't think you would understand."

"What makes you say that?"

"Oh, Martin! You don't know what it's like back home. I've learned everything I could about magic, trying to prove to everyone that I could become a great witch, even though-"

She stopped suddenly, on the verge of tears.

Marty placed his hand on her back, trying to soothe her.

"It's alright, Mione. I'm right here."

Hermione smiled at him, taking a deep breath, and then continued.

"You see, in my world, there are people born with pure wizard blood, while others are born with none at all. They are referred to as 'Muggles.'"

"So, muggles are normal people?"

"Yes, my parents were both born muggles, and so was I. No one thought I was worthy of becoming a witch because of that. Most people think muggles are inferior to pure-bloods, think they should be eliminated."

Hermione stopped again, looking back to her arm.

"Oh, Marty. You wouldn't believe the things that people have said to me, simply because I'm not pure."

Marty's expression changed.

"That word...she cut it into your arm. Is that...?"

He suddenly realized, "Do people call you that?"

She looked at him, "Yes."

"That Draco guy, does he call you that?" Marty was enraged, even though his voice was quiet, she could tell.

"Yes..." Hermione's voice started to quiver, just the thought of someone as awful as Draco Malfoy made her feel horrible.

"Oh, Marty. I don't think anything could make me feel any better right now."

She then started to cry, burring her face in her hands.

Marty quickly pulled her into his arms, rubbing her gently.

"Listen, don't take to mind what jerks like Draco and Bellatrix say, because you have something they never will."

Hermione looked up, tears streaming her eyes.

"What?" She sniffed.

"Well, first of all, you're smart, capable and strong. You're able come up with a plan in no time when we need it most. And you care deeply about anyone and everyone, no matter if they're from a different world or not."

Hermione smiled, the awful pit in her stomach finally starting to go away.

But she was still unsure, "What about my magic? I'm...not a pureblood."

Marty pulled away and looked at her intently.

"Are you kidding? I don't care if you have magic! I mean, don't get me wrong, you're extremely talented regardless, but that's not what I like about you, Mione. It's who you are that I love, more than anything else."

"And besides, you're forgetting one important thing..."

"What's that?"

"I'm technically a muggle too."

Hermione smiled, realizing he was right.

"I don't have magic, but that doesn't stop me from doing everything I can to help anyone that needs it."

Marty took her hand, "And that's what I want you to realize. Hermione Granger, you're an amazing person, don't ever let anyone make you think otherwise. And, if for some reason, you decide not to do magic anymore, or to keep doing it, I'll be right there with you, no matter what."

She hugged him tightly, "Oh Marty, thank you."

Then she asked, "Is it true?"

"What?"

"Do you really love me?"

"Of course I do, Mione."

They moved in closer to one another. Marty wrapped his arms around Hermione as she snuggled into him.

Hermione looked back at her arm once more.

"Don't worry about that." Marty said.

"It shows how strong you are."
