"Peaches I swear if you don't put that down this moment."

"Awe come on Mango~"

CRASH

"DAD!"

You laid there staring at your ceiling, the warmth from your blankets and daughter snuggled into you sadly wasn't enough to lull you back to sleep over the sound of your husbands and son making a ruckus in the kitchen. "What are they doing in there?" Bai He groaned snuggling deeper into your side. "I don't know baby," You mumbled, your fingers slipping from her hair as you sat up, "But I'm about to put an end to it."

You put your feet on the cold floor and did your best to ignore the cold sensation that shot up your legs from your bare feet leaving the warm blankets. Giving one more look to your daughter, who was now joined by rumble and savage, laying around the blue haired girl to keep her warm you turned and made your way out of your room.

As you neared the kitchen, the sound of chaos grew. And was that, burning?!

The moment you entered the kitchen you wished you had just stayed in bed. There was flour everywhere, dusting the cabinets and island, there were footprints and paw prints covering the floor. Puffs of smoke rose from something that was now blackened and charred on your stove top. As you stood there surveying the mess, an egg yolk fell from the ceiling landing near your exposed feet. "Morning sweetheart." Wukong's nervous chuckle came reminding you who woke you and your daughter up in the first place.

Standing in the middle of the mess was Wukong and Macaque, frozen in place with the golden simian gripping his husband's wrists, Macaque having a firm hold on his partner's ear. MK stood in the background with an awkward grin on his face. "Morning! We uh- made breakfast, heheh." He nervously chuckled holding up a measly cup of barely filled orange juice.

In that moment of innocence, you felt all anger wash off you, like a raging river trickling out to a stream. Letting out a soft sigh, a sympathetic smile forming on your face you took the glass from your son and drank the small sip that was in it. "Go get Bai He, Xiaotain, the boys and I will clean up in here then we'll go out for breakfast." You said, nudging him to the opening you just came from. He gave a grin hugging you quickly before speeding off, calling for his little sister as he's footsteps receded down the hall.

But the moment your son was gone, you smile disappeared and you rounded on your husbands, fire in your eyes. "What in the name of Buddha happened in here?!" you demanded; arms crossed. Wukong sweat dropped, "Well you see love, Mac over here-" "Wukong forgot that he didn't know how to cook and wouldn't accept the fact that he can't, so he decided to be the usual show off he is and "wing it"" Macaque said cutting him off. His husband sputtered at this, "What! I do to know how to cook!" You and your black furred husband shared a look before directing that look of uncertainty to your shared golden simian.

The king gave a grumble looking away from the two of you, accepting defeat. "I just thought I'd give y/n a break is all." He mumbled, shoulders slumping, "You always are working so hard, training to protect the kids, then cleaning and cooking so we can live in a proper living space, I just feel bad." You looked at Wukong in surprise. Never in the years that you had been married to him and Macaque had he ever been so self-aware. "Sun," You put a hand on his shoulder causing him to turn to you, his ears down and tail limp in shame. "You know I don't mind doing all of this right?" You offered a small smile, moving your hand to cup his fuzzy cheek. The simian instantly leaned into your touch. "I know I'm not as strong as you and Mac are, so I cook and clean to make up for it I suppose." This time, Macaque spoke up, "That doesn't mean you're some simple housewife y/n." he retorted, tail lashing in frustration. His emotions weren't aimed at you, but more to himself for not noticing how much he slacked on house chores, leaving the burden for you to worry about. "I never said that." You turned your head to him.

"Look," You pulled away from Wukong to face both your husbands at once I know my worth, I know my strengths and I know my weakness. I don't feel obligated to be the quote-on-quote housewife, I enjoy cooking for my family! Cleaning not so much, but I still manage. Understand, I do it because I love you."

Your words were sappy, but they were needed to calm the two monkeys. Without much warning you found yourself wedged between them. Macaque having his arms wrapped around your waist and Wukong hugging your upper body close with his tail around your waist. You all stood there in the middle of the messy kitchen, flour and bits of egg and batter all around you, enjoying each other's presence.

Though the moment was ruined when a ball of flour hit the back of Macaque causing him to whorl around. He caught the tail end of MK ducking behind the island, pulling Bai He with him, both children giggling. You gave Macaque a confused look not understanding what was going on until you watched him grab a handful of flour, putting a finger to his lips. Wukong caught on right away and did the same, both monkeys going opposite directions around the island before springing on the kids and throwing the messy powder on them. Screams and laughs erupted from everyone as the flour fight began, bits of power and egg being thrown every which direction.

They say that day you could hear the family's laughter and joy rippling from Flower Fruit Mountain all the way to the Celestial Realm, making Buddha himself smile. As for the mess, the kids themselves started to take on more chores to help you out and Wukong and Macaque were permanently banned from the kitchen.
