Wednesday has been giving her parents the silent treatment throughout the drive to their new school, Nevermore.
Wednesday was doing this for reasons unknown to Ivory. Ivory would normally be joining her in this because even the thought of going to a 'school for outcasts' made her feel sick, she never even considered herself an outcast, sure her family was kind of odd but she felt as if she was just dragged into the narrative, she felt like she didn't belong in her family.
Which is also the reason why she isn't giving her parents the silent treatment because she has decided she is going to start impressing her mother, because both Wednesday and Ivory know what their mother wants most, one of them to follow in her footsteps, and by now they had both figured it wasn't going to be Wednesday.
You could call it 'taking one for the team'.
"Come on Wednesday, are you not even slightly exited about another new school" Ivory spoke in a fake tone of voice. Wednesday did admire her sister in one way, she would never tell her this, she was impressed by the fact she could always manage to make conversations in any situation, such as one as depressing as this one, which was probably the reason to Ivory making friends quickly even though she is considered an 'outcast'.
Wednesday gave her an unimpressed look back. Ivory had already gotten her plan to follow in her mothers footsteps ready, she would have to become captain of the fencing team, win the Poe Cup, become a nightshade, and lastly, find her own 'high-school sweetheart' which she figured could be hard as it is a school for outcasts who probably aren't looking for someone to spend the rest of their lives with.
Upon their arrival, the sisters were taken to their dorms, Ivory went with Wednesday to see her dorm before she went to her own.
They walked into a very bright, vibrant room and met her roommate Enid Sinclair, who had initially tried to give Wednesday a hug.
"She's not a hugger, but i am" Ivory smiled embracing the colourful girl.
"Got it" Enid smiled back to Ivory.
Wednesday was handed an all black uniform, in contrast to the usual one. Ivory did have to admit that for someone who hated being the centre of attention, she sure did like to stick out from the crowds.
The three girls walked through the ancient halls of the school while Enid recited all sorts of facts about the school. Wednesday cut her off and turned to face her.
"You can save the sanitized sales pitch, I don't plan on staying here for long" she stated. Enid was silent until she spoke again.
"Oh, well what about you Ivory?" she asked, hoping she could at least help her.
"Well, before Wednesday rudely interrupted you, I was actually looking forward to learning about the school i plan to stay at this time" she smiled and glared down at Wednesday.
"But im sure Wednesday was about to tell you why she isn't staying anyway" Ivory rolled her eyes preparing to hear Wednesday rant again.
"Ignore Ivory, I have a perfectly valid reason for not wanting to stay here" Wednesday turned to the picture of Morticia front and centre of the fencing team.
"Oh look, there's my mother smirking at me, They've been looking for any excuse to send us here."
"It's all a part of their nefarious, yet completely obvious plan, right Wednesday?" Ivory mocked her.
"What plan?" Enid asked Wednesday curiously. Meanwhile Ivory couldn't believe she actually wanted to hear about this.
"To turn us into versions of themselves." Wednesday deadpanned looking up at Ivory, who has been ready to move on from this conversation and is now walking away. Wednesday and Enid caught up with her in the quad while she was looking around there.
"Bianca Barclay, is the closest thing Nevermore has to royalty" Enid said as Ivory looked over at the siren, seems like she has an obstacle in her plan.
"She used to date our resident tortured artist, Xavier Thorpe."
Ivory looked over at the apparently single boy, painting a wall, he had a strong jawline and long hair tied back.
"But they broke up at the beginning of the semester, reason unknown." Enid said catching Ivory's attention again.
"Fascinating." Ivory and Wednesday expressed at the same time, but in very different manners.
"Glad you two can agree on something" Enid laughed while the two twins stood there looking over at Xavier. A voice caught Ivory's attention.
"Yo, Enid! You're not gonna believe the dirt I heard about your new roommate and her sister!"
"Chowed down on that kid they murdered." Ivory laughed and moved to stand next to Enid.
"Great to know people are already talking about us, very welcoming." Ivory smiled sarcastically at the boy who had an embarrassed look on his face.
"I actually fillet the bodies of my victims, then feed them to my menagerie of pets." Wednesday said. This was Ivory's cue to escape from them again.
Ivory had been successful in escaping this time and started to make her way to her dorm. She walked in to see a very organized clean room and a blonde smiling girl sat reading a book.
"Oh im sorry! I was waiting for you but you didn't come for a while so i started to read!" the unnamed girl hugged Ivory.
"My name is Idell Sinclair, I'm pretty sure my sister is your sisters roommate?" she questioned Ivory.
"Yeah Enid!" Ivory expressed looking around the room, not one bit of the room was a mess.
"i hate to break this to you but this room wont be like this in about 2 days of me being in here." Ivory laughed with Idell as she started to unpack her clutter and posters.
"So, Ivory what clubs are you planning on joining?" Idell asked the girl who was decorating her side of the room with various items.
"Well, there is a few like, the fencing team, and i want to join the nightshades" she blurted out to the girl, now realising she isn't supposed to know about the secret society. Ivory stopped and turned to face her praying she already knew about it. Idell laughed at her face
"Well you are lucky your new best friend is in the student council, and can get you into the nightshades, i mean your a legacy after all!"
Once Ivory finished decorating her room, she went to say goodbye to her family. She gave Pugsley a tight hug knowing it was going to be hard for him without her and Wednesday. Morticia handed Ivory an emerald necklace.
"Nevermore wont fail you darling, this was my mothers necklace, she told me to hand it over to you the day you would need it" she hugged her daughter and gave her and Wednesday crystal balls to keep in touch.
As Ivory watched the car drive away she started to get the feeling she was going to like it here.
