Later, Tyrone, Tasha, and Austin came outside, each carrying a collection of hat boxes.

Austin: Hey, Pablo. Wanna try on one of our magic hats?

Pablo didn't say anything; he just stared off into space.

Tyrone: Uh, Pablo? Are you feeling okay?

Pablo: (shakily) I am... but Uniqua isn't.

Austin: What do you mean, she's not okay?

Tasha: Hey, speaking of Uniqua, where is she?

Pablo: (shakily) She's at the hospital.

  Tyrone: The hospital? Why?

  Pablo: (shakily) Appendicitis.

  Tasha: A panda what?

Pablo: I'm not quite sure, but apparently, there's something wrong with her stomach.

Tyrone: Oh. Maybe she was just hungry; that can make your stomach hurt.

  Pablo: I don't think that's it.

Tasha: Well, did she have breakfast this morning?

Pablo: I think so. Here's the thing, though: apparently, she's had a fever since last night, and it's only gotten worse.

  Austin: Uh-oh.

Tyrone: Maybe it's just a stomach bug.

Pablo: Hmm... I'm sure one of my mom's medical books can explain this whole appendicitis thing.

With that, Pablo led the others over to the window to his mother's study.

Pablo: This is where I heard the news.

One by one, they all climbed through the open window into the blue-decked study room. Once they were all inside, Pablo opened up the cyan computer on the desk where the other three had gathered. He typed "appendicitis" into the search engine, and what he found said...

Pablo: "Appendicitis is a condition in which the appendix, a pouch on the colon that serves no known purpose, becomes inflamed and full of pus."

  Tyrone: Pus? Eww!

  Tasha: Gross!

Pablo: "Appendicitis is usually treated with surgery and antibiotics. Untreated appendicitis can lead to the appendix rupturing, causing an abscess or systemic infection."

Tyrone: So it's like a bomb set to explode inside her body?!

  Pablo: Pretty much.

Austin: They must be doing the surgery right now.

Tyrone: Do you think the doctors will be able to get it out in time?

Pablo: I know they will. Uniqua's in the best hands possible.
