Cole Brookstone x Kai Smith Ninjago High School Roommates Au

The Beginning of the Story

Context: you, Cole Brookstone, have just arrived at a little coffee shop to meet your new roommate, Kai Smith, to meet and get to know each other yk. You are known in Ninjago High School as the 'tall, strong jock that the women adore' (you haven't come out as gay yet), whereas Kai is known as the cocky and short junior who gets in fights sometimes. Ages: Kai-16, Cole-17. Btw all words in between ~~ and in italic (like this-sideways) are Author's Notes - like time skips or reminders. 

Tip: Listen to the song in the first ninja scene

As you walk in, the smell of sweet pastries and cakes hits you, making your mouth water. You make your way over to the counter and ask the waiter about a red eyed brunette, about 5'7" (compared to you at 6'3"). They point to the back of the seating area and your eyes land on Kai, sitting and scrolling on his phone. He spots you and calls you over.

"YO! Cole! I'm over here!"

You have just finished unpacking and tidying up your side of the apartment when you remember that you left your gi in one of your shopping bags (in the kitchen), just as Kai says that he's gonna go unpack them and make a sandwich. You rush in and say that you have something you need to take out from one of the bags that is a surprise and that you'll unpack it in the bedroom while Kai makes that ham sandwich he wanted.

You grab your gi out the bag and put it in the locked cabinet draw next to your bunkbed, making sure no-one saw. You lock the drawer and put the key in your pocket, then go back to the kitchen to help Kai unpack and mostly to help put stuff on high shelves and on top of the fridge. 

"First day of school tomorrow,"

"Already? Arrnnggg" ~you know that typical Kai annoyed sound~

"Yep - I can go to the shops again later if I've forgotten anything, I'm going to the gym in a bit anyways. Wake me up if you need anything cuz I'm gonna go have a nap."

~time skip, you get woken up to your watch buzzing aggressively~

Oh no this is not a good time for an alarm call! Sensei always finds a way for them to get in the way of everything - especially when you are doing something really important. You jump out of bed and fumble with the lock on the drawer when you hear Kai hurriedly running to the bathroom. Well it doesn't matter anyways, you get changed into your gi as fast as possible then shout to Kai that you're going to the gym and that you'll be back later. You quickly open the window of the bedroom and jump out, leaping from building to building to the meeting point - the roof of a building next to NGTV news. You could see the building from the other side of the city.

As soon as you get there, you notice that everyone is looking at you for some reason. Then you suddenly hear an "excuse me" from behind you and you turn around to see a small, 5'6" boy cowering in fear at the sight of a muscly 6'3" guy  who just jumped off a two story building and stood in front of him. He was wearing a dark green gi, with yellow cracks on it and he had a small sprout on his head.

"Ah. You must be the new member of the team! Welcome-"

"The Moss Ninja"

"Yea. Sorry about the whole entrance thingy I didn't see you there - I didn't mean to scare you. Sorry my guy."

"No worries - Sensei did warn me about muscular guys scaring me, I just didn't expect tall ones."

"Uh guys- I think we need some introductions??" Water said.

"Oh yea- but where's Fire??" You asked

"Fire? Where??" Moss piped up

"Oh yea Moss we use our ninja names here because, well, we don't know each other's real names. So, we have Water, in blue, Ice, in white, Energy, in green, me, in grey, Moss, in dark green and the master of Blabber in Blue."
