(A/N): Hey guys! Sorry for not posting and leaving you on a cliffhanger. I ended up getting sick and am doing better now. Every time I tried to write I was uncomfortable, but now I'm freeeee lol. So here ya go.
You stopped brooding about in your room after learning the voice in your head is your mother. You had forgotten the sound of it over the years. Now she's suddenly become mute, leaving you alone with your thoughts. You've tried to reach her by meditating but the only thing you can see is Macaque and Sun's, souls. You reluctantly gave up, distracted by Sun's sorrowful energy radiating in a liquid shade of blue. You wish you could intrude on his thoughts and check in on him, but there is a barrier that restricts you. The fact that he keeps you at bay depresses you, but it didn't stop your persistence.
Day in and day out, you would keep an eye on the soul and meditate in search of your mom. You wanted answers that your father cannot give you, and while you deserve to know, you didn't want to trigger your father. You groan impatiently, done with the secrecy. "How hard is it to talk to me?"
Macaque scoffs as he enters the garden where you often do your ritual. "Oh, I don't know, maybe because you can be aggressive?" He teased.
You take his criticism as a sign to calm down. "I'm not trying to be difficult, but I'm tired of having to force the truth out. I just want to know who I am as a person when half of my identity remains a mystery." You sighed. "I don't even know how to use my powers properly and it feels like if I don't find out soon, I'll end up like Bone Demon."
You remind Macaque of your dilemma. The reason for visiting your father and asking the question is too much for him to disclose. Lixin is the reason for him having a residence and keeping you here. What would happen if your problems were resolved? What then? What would be his purpose? Regardless, he loves you too much not to see you succeed. "The only difference is she was controlling a person while you are taking control of your own emotions. As long as you're stable, you'll be fine. Just try not to overthink. It seems like it affects your mental state." You thank Macaque for his solid advice. You can't recall the countless times he's kept you on your feet. Always cunning, but honest. It dawned on you that you haven't properly conversed with him since the sleepover. All of the opportunities to save him from becoming Bone Demon's servant. Would things be different if you gave him your heart that night? You snap out of your daze as Macaque coyly says, "I like staring too. Specifically at someone cute."
He grinned as your cheeks heat up. "I zoned out." You stated.
"Sure you did and I bet you were thinking about me." It's outstanding how cheeky he is. It's even more astonishing how he hit the nail on the head.
You decide to remark with, "as a matter of fact, yes." He's taken aback just as you predicted. "I'm curious about how you and my father came in contact?"
The question itself makes him bashful. Now you're intrigued by his shift in demeanor. "It's a long story."
"I got all day." You cross your arms unrelentingly.
He takes a deep breath and starts, "Yin and Jin captured me by accident. Their target was Wukong so they could extract information about you."
"You got caught by low-ranked demons?" You reiterated.
"They mimicked your voice. I thought you were in trouble, ok?" You shrink feeling dumb for nearly teasing him. You would likely do the same thing if your friends were in a bind. "Anyway, their plan backfired once I escaped. They told me your father hired them so they can search for you and talk. I threatened their lives in exchange for Lixin's whereabouts. Once I confronted your dad, I gave him such a fright that he broke down." He professed, remembering the day. "The last thing I wanted to do is hurt him. I just wanted answers for you, but he didn't find me trustworthy. I basically had to earn his trust. Eventually, he agreed to tell me only if I brought you to meet with him."
