(Sunday, September 16th)
After Eurella left for work and said that she'd be back early before the evening when Carra and her wife would come, I had stayed in the bed under the covers, with no driving desire to leave from this catatonic position. The comfort in this spot was better than any other physical spot in my life, especially in another spot where I'd see my sister. I didn't want to be reminded that I was forgotten, and leaving this room would only be a reminder.
A knock at the door focused my attention on the sound, and my thoughts cleared from my head. My neck craned around while I looked over my shoulder from my position on the bed now, just as Ange popped her head in. "I haven't seen you in a while. I'm just checking in," She said.
I turned back around, although I was grateful to see my best friend, my gaze locked onto the digital clock on the nightstand that read '11:37 a.m.' After the door closed, I heard Ange approaching.
A heavy and shaky sigh arose from me while the bed dipped down a bit next to me as she sat down and started looking around. She would turn her head to something then she would look back at me, then she would look away, and look back at me, then she would fidget while looking away again, and look back at me. The woman seemed very nervous, like she didn't really know how to start up the conversation because I seemed sad. She was being so fucking awkward and I couldn't help the little laugh that left me. She has no clue how to comfort people.
She smiled at somehow getting me to laugh even if she didn't intend it. "So what's up?" She asked nervously while fidgeting a tiny amount.
I shook my head. "Look above your head. You can figure it out yourself," I said jokingly, but I was trying to avoid actually talking about my problems.
She actually craned her neck back and looked above her head. "Dummy," I mumbled.
The woman took a moment to get it, and I started laughing hard. Then Ange's mouth dropped wide open while she scoffed. "Oh, fuck you," She said, but I saw her smiling.
I started laughing, and for a moment, just a small moment of time, I had forgotten about my pain, but slowly my pain returned, and I began to voice my desire to forget, "I know that Eurella told you about my sister and I don't want to talk about it."
Ange's eyes began to exhibit concern, and I shook my head. "Ange, please," I said while closing my eyes and looking away when I felt tears stinging in them.
It was quiet for a stretch of time, then she spoke, "So you and Eurella, huh?"
I rolled my eyes, nevertheless, I started smiling and blushing like an idiot. "Yes," I said breathily, now smiling even brighter than I ever have in my life.
