"McCarthy, Kent" says the principal over the PA system "please proceed to my office, right now."

Kent get up his seat and walks out of the classroom ignoring the teasing of his classmates. He closed the classroom door behind him.

Kent walks down the hallway of his school towards the principal's office.

"Dead man walking." Says someone behind him. Unsurprisingly, it was his friend, Thirteen.

"I don't even know why I was called." Says Kent. Thirteen just chuckles. Thirteen was the type of company that you'd want if you're in trouble or going towards it. Somehow, he makes me feel easy.

"Maybe it's about you killing that exam." He winks at Kent and enters his class. Kent chuckles.

When he reaches the principal's office, it turns out that Thirteen wasn't far off.

"Kent," said the principal "I'm glad that you made it here immediately. Please have a seat." The principal wasn't alone though. There was an official looking red haired woman sitting in front of his desk. Kent sits on the empty chair beside the woman.

"Am I in trouble principal?" Asks Kent

The principal gives a hearty laugh. "No," says the principal "why would you think that? No you aren't in trouble. On the contrary though." He gestures to the woman.

"Hello Kent." Says the woman, good-naturedly "I am a representative from the ISA. Are you familiar with it?"

"International Special Association." Says Kent.

"Right." Affirms the woman "and I am taking it that you also know what we do. We are currently researching about the mundane capabilities of the human brain."

"And you want to study mine?" Asks Kent, uncertainty apparent on his voice.

"Frankly, yes" was the woman's frank answer "we will study you for a year and after that you will have your life back."

"But why me?" Asks Kent

"You remember an exam administered here last week right?"

"Yes," Kent replies

"That exam was citywide,"says the woman "and it enabled us to determine who are the most likely subjects. And we determined you. And we believe that you have been close with one of our past subjects. Thirteen."

"Thirteen was a subject?" Kent doesn't know why this shocks him. Thirteen was always very smart sometimes too smart for his own sake.

"Yes," the woman says, pleased "and there you have a proof that you can be normal after the experiment. Just think an about it. And if you have made your decision, please proceed directly to the ISA headquarters." She hands a form to Kent and leaves the room.

Shortly after that, he was dismissed by the principal.

By the time that he has returned to the classrooms, everyone has already gone home.

"So, " says Thirteen, leaning on the door frame "what did Ella want with you?"

Kent starts at the sound of his voice. "Dude," says Kent "I almost had a heart attack."

Thirteen gave him a weird look. Somewhere between insulted and scared.

"Anyways," Kent says "she offered me to be a subject in one of their tests."

At that, Thirteen gave a small chuckle. "I knew that that exam was for determining subjects."

"She also told me that you were a subject of the same experiment."

"Yeah, I was." Says Thirteen. Thirteen enters the room and sits on one of the desks "I'm going to stop beating around the bush," looking at Kent intensely "if you decide to accept that, you'll never be normal again."

And with that he leaves the room. Leaving a confused Kent behind.
