Hardins pov:
Three days had passed since we last spoke to Harper. We agreed to give her space, hoping she'd return on her own. Personally, I thought it was a terrible idea. My impulse was to drag her back home, lock her in her room, and maybe even let her starve a bit. The house, however, had grown eerily quiet. Though Harper didn't contribute much, her absence changed the atmosphere. People stayed in their rooms, lost in their thoughts. I had no patience for that.
Family dinners were a thing of the past, and even our once well-trained guards faced torment and death. It baffled me how a seemingly insignificant girl could outsmart them. Nevertheless, I found solace in the absence of her presence. With Harper around, my mood would swing, and I couldn't discern if it was love or irritation. Especially when she tried to get closer to my twin. He's my twin, and she needed to back off.
A knock interrupted my thoughts. "Get out," I dismissed, assuming it was Herkins, the only brother who knocked. Pathetic.
"I'm going to pretend you were on the phone and allow you to join us for breakfast without a scratch... GOT IT?" my mum declared, giving me a menacing glare.
"Got it," I repeated, smiling kindly, though I knew I was in trouble.
"I'm going out; I'll be back before dinner... not that you care," I announced to Hades, whispering the last part, yet confident he heard me.
"Be back by 1 pm," Hades ordered, not sparing me a glance. Dammit.
"I can't be back by 1 pm; it's too early," I retorted, anger evident in my tone.
"I said 1 pm, and that's final. If you want to go out anytime you like, get your own roof to live in," he replied, taking a sip of his coffee, shooting me a heavy glare. Thanks for the love, brother.
Hades always believed he was the boss, even with our parents around. If Hades said no, it was a definitive no. His arrogance irked me.
To clear my thoughts, I played my favourite song on the way to one of our family clubs to drown my sorrows.
It was quiet for a while until I sent a car flying across the road. Damn.
Rushing out of my car, I slammed the door, hoping I hadn't hurt my precious baby, Alex.
"Hey dude, what the heck is wrong with you? You nearly killed that man," a stranger yelled at me. Oh, no. I hit someone. Hades is going to kill me.
"Just put the hospital bill on my tab," I said, handing him one of my cards with millions of dollars as I drove off, ignoring the insults thrown my way.
