***Carefree, Arizona | 2011***[Sam's Voice] "I've always loved space. From the first time I saw the stars as a baby, I was hooked."
The cool evening air blew amongst the trees and the stars shined brightly in the night sky. The stars shined brightly and the music of crickets chirping filled the air.
"My dad loved them too. He was always convinced there was more life out there, beyond our world. And he was right! There's Chitauri, Accusers, Xandarians, Asgardians, and LOTS, lots more! My dad would always tell me stories about flying through the stars, fighting bad aliens, and just exploring the galaxy."
In a backyard, a man peered through a telescope aimed at the starry heavens above. This man was Jesse Alexander, a humble man with a great love for the stars.
"Ah! Right there." He said, backing away from the telescope so that a little boy could step up to look through it.
That boy was his son, Samuel Alexander. Or just Sam.
Through the telescope, Sam could see the rings of Saturn. Granted, wasn't very close up, but it was still beautiful to a five year old kid.
"They look so cool!" He said with awe.
"Oh, they are cool, Sam. They're like a big hailstorm just floating in a circle. Rocks, ice, and dust, all mixed together to make that beautiful marvel. Can't get enough of flying through it. Every time it's just...magical!"
Hearing his father talk about the wonders of space and flying through it really made him feel small compared to the big universe. But he still loved the way his father talked about it, so much so that he wanted to see it all for himself.
"I wish I could fly up there with you, Dad." He uttered.
"Oh, don't you worry, son." Jesse said, a look of pride on his face. Putting an arm around his shoulder, he held Sam close and assured him of his words. "One day soon, I'll take you flying. And believe me, it'll be the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. I'll even show you my favorite spot."
"Where's that?"
Again, Jesse held Sam close and pointed up to a big outstanding object in the night sky. One he knew very well.
"The moon?"
"Mhm. The view of our planet from there, oh my god. It's literally breathtaking. Believe me, you're gonna love it."
Hearing his father talk about the adventures they'd have filled Sam with excitement for the future.
"You promise?" Sam asked, hopefully.
Jesse chuckled at his son and nodded. "I promise."
Sam tackled his father with a hug, much to his pleasure as he returned it.
"What're you spacemen up to?" A voice from behind them asked.
The two of them turned to see Jesse's beautiful wife, Eva, walking out to them with a baby in her arms. That baby was their daughter, and Sam's little sister, Kaelynn. Or Kae for short.
"Mom!" Sam cheered. "Dad's showing me Saturns rings!"
"Oooh, nice!" Eva replied.
"Yeah! And he said that he's going to take me flying outin space one day too!!!"
Eva shot a glare and a raised eyebrow to her husband upon hearing that. "Did he now?"
Jesse became sheepish as Eva didn't look away from her husband. He stuttered as he tried to think of something to say, but could only reply with a shrug and a nervous smile.
Eva couldn't help but smile and shake her head at her husband. She knew that Sam idolized his father and as many stories as Jesse told him, she knew it was a matter of time before he would want to go up too. And though she was very apprehensive about it, Eva knew Jesse.
So, letting down her glare and "Well, as long as he promises to keep you safe, it's alright with me."
"Yayyy!" Sam cheered happily.
Jesse was surprised at his wife's reaction to him taking their son into space, but he realized that she trusted him. Just as she always had.
In that moment, the whole family stood together and looked up to the starry night sky, captivated by its beauty.

Sam: "Yeah, those were the best times....until I turned eight. That's when my dad went on another mission in space. But this time...he never came back. It's been pretty rocky since then. Especially when half of the universe vanished for an entire decade. Including my mom and little sister...
"But that's when things started to change for me. I became a full on member of my corps, I met some cool people, met this great girl, and then we saved the universe together and brought back everyone that was lost years ago.
"And now, my family is back, I've got an awesome group of super-friends, and I've got the best girlfriend in the universe. My life is pretty good right now. Sure, it's a little rocky here and there, but it's still feels good to be here and see it all. And the best part of it? I get to be a superhero and save people on Earth and in space!"
"My name is Sam Alexander, but you might know me by a different name..."
